Here we go again with sketchy directions for HID installation. 1st it was (unnamed) wtih the omission of reverse polarity on LX cars. In the end it didnt matter as the wiring harness with an installed capacitor had to be used for 50 watt low beam installation... now its a different supplier with optional error code cancellers and wiring harness to prevent possible flickering. :icon_confused:
The directions are OK for normal installation but again leave out the mention of reverse polarity. although the plugs basically go in one way to the error code cancellers (I hope) there are no directions (general or specific) on the error code cancellers. The installer is left to figure this out, try to make a phone call to the vendor, or risk blowing expensive 50 watt ballasts. Confirmation of correct installation will not come until the starscan is done. Chances i will have to call --M for clarification.

If novice forum members can produce excellent installation directions, why can't the suppliers? no wonder this country is in danger of losing world class manufacturing status!:deadhorse:

Its kinda of know that you flip the the plug during install, and what about starscan?

maybe for you and i its common knowledge. the error cancellers slightly complicate things; anytime u spend $160 or any amount there should be somewhat clear directions. the code cancellers have none. its very easy to reverse the wrong plug... they wanted to know what car u have when you order then they should tell you what you need to do when u buy the kit.
I found a thread on the lx forum that details installation with the same kit on a 300C. thank god for forum members that take the time to use good photos and explanations to make it clear.
if a chrysler dodge doesnt come with fogs the car has to go back to the dealer for a scan that lets the car recognize the fogs. only the dealer can do it for $40-100 which is a ripoff but you have to do it.

its kinda of, you know... ;)

Eeehhhhh just get the dealer to enable your lights and just install the HIDs yourself. It took my like...5 minutes to do both of my fogs. I dunno where you got your HIDs from, but I didn't have to go through any of that reverse polarity crap.

DDM Tuning; but plug and play requires reverse polarity hookup
thats wht i'm doing except i'm doing the install now; got the fogs last week and waited to get the hid's so i can do it all at once. i guess the scan could have been done 1st but not sure. YOU already had the fogs i am guessing cause installing the fogs aint no 5 minute job!! more then likely you reversed the polarity at the connection and didnt know it, and/or you have 35 watt fogs. 50 watt will flicker more then likely without the cancellers and another wiring harness. sometimes 50 watts will go on and off ive read, as the oem harness cant handle the load. and as Sen. McCain would say " my friend i didnt make the kit, i only bought them!"

When I purchased the HID kit from HIDGATE, he included a wiring harness that had a capacitor on it for anti-flicker. Luckily with his harness, he corrected the reverse polarity in the harness, so nothing extra to do.

If you are adding an aftermarket HID kit, WHY do you need STARSCAN?

I never needed it, and I don't think anyone else did.

You may only need it if you are installing stack OEM HID lights on the Charger, but even then I don't think you do.

I do agree with you that the instructions they include in the kits are difficult to follow and confusing!

guys, 1st i am installing oem foglights. the car does not have any foglights.
2nd i am (or plan) to install the hids in the foglights i install. 3rd i want to do the install all at once. A lot of you already had oem fogs; SXT's mostly have them so its just a matter of installing the hids, leds, etc. If you dont have fogs YOU HAVE TO GET IT STARSCANNED!! The car will not recognize oem fogs without it. if you install non-oem fogs that are wired into your park lights or directly to the battery with a non-oem switch then you dont need the scan.. thats asking for trouble though, especially if you run a different switch and forget to turn them off. thanks for the help though!;)

My bad!

Yeah, when you install foglights on a car that does not have it, you will need to get it STARSCANNED!

I have not converted my fogs to HID yet, so not sure how difficult to install them yourself, otherwise, I would just tell you to play it safe, have them install the fogs with halogen bulbs...then once you get it home, you can make the conversion to HID.

yeah i thought about that but my dealer wants $150 plus the scan to install. it is not that difficult and i would have to redo the install to get the hids in. you have to go in from the backside to do the hids same as the install. I know they wont install the hids.
