I would like to start off by saying I have no problem with JL, except that their subs are old and outdated, and their prices are way too high, for an unchanged product since 2000.

Although high in quality, both SQ and SPL, there are plenty of subs of equal or better overall quality, for much less money available.

For instance, the Orion HCCA.

Here's the video. The Orion HCCA, The Kicker Solo X, JL W7, Rockford T1, and Cerwin Vega Stroker. All phenomenal subs.

In specific, here's the competition with probably the most respected, the Dub7 JL.

The Sub discussion is a heated one. Everyone has there favorite and most dont know why they think theirs is better they just do. I always liked Memphis. Never had any problems.

yeah people get wayyyyy to heated about which woofer is better.

I know that I started off with Imperial Pyramids (30 dollar subs hahaha),
Since then I've had about 12 Kicker CVR 12s & 15s, rockford HX2s, Eclipse Titanium 12's (good subs), Directed Audio 12s, Audiobahn Flame Q 15's (4), HCCA Orion 12.2's.

So far, I can say that those audiobahn flame Q 15's were powered at a tested 700 RMS to each of the 4, and brutally abused for 4.5 years until I sold the truck and it's stereo. 2 are still around today (been 6 years) They were sold to a kid who wired the amp down to 1/2 ohm (1400 watts RMS a piece) and locked up 2 of the ALREADY abused for 4.5 year subs, in about a week. 2 survived, and both amps are still in excellent working order, infact I have one in my Charger today powering 2 Eclipse Titanium 12's, and the other is in my buddy's little easter egg Honda fit, with 4 12" Kicker L5's.

People will talk smack all day about how worthless audiobahn is, but you can't argue with results. Good bang/buck. Sure, theres MUCH higher SQ subs, but for SPL the Audiobahns kick some @$$!

I do, however much prefer my HCCA Orions

With amps, I've had Kenwood 1000 watt, Audiobahn 1300HCTs, Audiobahn 1500HCTs (2000 watts @ 1 ohm), Rockford 700s (power series, had it at 1 ohm for over 2 years, finally died recently haha, sturdy amp!), Power Acoustic 1000 watt, Sony 1000 watt (liek 250 rms, worthless), Pyramid 1000 watt (250 rms, worthless), and my Orion 5000D, and I think I've had a few other cheapo's when I started out, but whatever.

Memphis makes good stuff, got a buddy with 8 memphis 12's in his sponsored tahoe. It's ridiculous. Only reason I haven't gotten in to memphis, honestly is the subs were ugly with the color logos on the subs. I know, stupid.

I have owned lots JL of subs. JL W0, W3v2's, W6v2's, and W7's. They are great subs and everyone uses them to compare other brands but I agree that they are way over priced.

My 13w7 is a bad boy but its not enough for me and the price that they are being sold for I could load my trunk up with subs to top it.

They changed up the 08' models, they are all black with the M on the bottom. Looks like.......A JL sub LOL

Its more about the box anyway in my humble opinion. I have a friend pounding with 4 Audiopipe EyeCandy 10's.

Very true! This guy at a shop near my house made a 12 CVX almost as loud as the 13w7 I have.

I say it's the amp and box. Subs have more to do with "how long" a system will last, then how "loud" or "good" IMO.

Within reason, of course. You can't expect sony xplod's to do anything but xplod.

I've always been a Cerwin Vega fan. They've been around for a long time. Remember the Vega series with the Red rubber surround. I remember going to Best Buy back in the day just to get a chance to look at the sub. :D

Good times!

money status is what JL is, too.

I have rims that cost 6200 dollars, I appreciate name brands obviously. Sure, they float/spin. I'd never pay that much for Asanti's or any regular-type wheel, however.

So I understand "brand name" importance. However some good brands out there with cheaper subs, IMO.

Will never talk badly about JL performance, they're good.

Quoted from webpage for REaudio "Want poewerful, low bass, but don't think you have the space?
Now you CAN with the SL SERIES 10" and 12" woofers."

Can't spell?

Sorry, but that's a hit on your professionalism/product, to me.

THey look good otherwise.
