Kenwood DDX-712

I have my mind set on getting this headunit, maybe as soon as this weekend. What I am asking is some of you guys that have this unit your likes/dislikes, either way I am still getting it especially when I tested it with my Iphone and it accessed and controlled all the mps3s and movies I have on my Iphone and even charged it. Will I have to get another trim bezel or will the factory double din bezel work? Any opinions will be appreciated.

If you have an '08 Charger, then no. They all have the same size radio bezel.

If you have an '06 or '07, then you will need the NAV bezel if you don't have it already.

I have this radio installed in my car. It was my first mod, and I have since added the Kenwood NAV to it so it's the same as a DNX7120 now. I love it and liked it better than the factory MyGig and other aftermarket brands like Pioneer b/c the screen is bigger (6.95"). It's not perfect, but I haven't seen another radio out right now that I would prefer instead. :D

I've had it get "stuck" maybe twice in the 5 months that I've had it, but the only thing that I had to do was turn the unit off then back on.

I'm trying to think about anything that I may not like about it now, but I guess it would really just be nit-picky stuff at best.

I kinda wish that the album artwork were displayed bigger. Also, it would be cool if there were different screen skins other than the 3 that come with it (but I think that you can download different skins from a website). The only other thing that would have been better was if there was a search function (to search for specific songs/playlists). Again, this is all that I can really come up, and I'm kinda reaching here. Bottom line is that you'll love it! :D

Fearlss, is this unit louder that that stock or just the same? I'm out of date on stuff like this so forgive if I'm asking a dumb question. I'm thinking of getting something like yours but don't want to lose any volume(the stock is o.k. but louder would be better) I have an '08 R/T with the radio that has multi disc(i don't know if it six but think so?)sat. radio,etc. and the sub on the dash(boston acoustics?)I think it has an internal amp, correct? TY, for any help!

That's the same stock set up that I had (6 spkr BA). To be honest, I don't really remember at all what the stock radio sounded I like b/c that was probably the first thing that I changed out. The Kenwood though is either slightly louder or just as loud as the stock radio IMO. Hope this answers your question. :D

Hey Fearlss...I also have the DDX712 but I haven't installed it yet. I am looking at the pics you posted of yours and I noticed there is a small gap on the left and right side of the unit. Do you know if that is because of the trimming that came with the unit or is it something else?

I assume that the only difference between the DNX7120 and the DDX712 is the nav function. Correct?

Exactly. I was planning on getting the ddx then in a few monthes when I got some more cash, buy the gps upgrade, because I was $100 short of the dnx, but then I called upon a friend. I now owe him $100. haha

It's worth it. But whether you buy the DNX upfront or buy the DDX now and the NAV component later, it ends up costing about the same either way and both work just as well. Congrats on the upgrade! :D

Yeah. The garmin nav is what really convinced me to get the kenwood over pioneer or any others. I've used Garmin for years and love it.
