Hello all,

I have tried several times to use the search function, but because of our horribloe internet conection out here it doesnt work to well. Can some please explain to me how to hard wire a Valentine 1. I will be reploying in less than 30 days:beerchug::beer_yum::clap::banana: and i get to make a nice long road trip to pick my car up. From Tx to Va. I would love to avoid Jonny Law as much as possible. Pictures would be really great also that way i can save them. Thanks everyone

I think you can do the same as we did with our Sirius plug n play units we have in two cars, two ways,

cut of the cig plug end and use and inline fuse (any auto shop will have) go into fuse box and ground the ground wire t the metal housing, and plug the hot wire to the cig plug fuse.

other way, some people get another cig plug adapter, wire it the same way to the cig fuse, and attach under the dash and plug it in , it is out of site ..

thank guys, i forgot to add that the radar came with a wire so that you can hard wire it. i was just wishing that someone on here had on and had done it already.

does the wire have a "IN LINE FUSE" attached? if not get one, then you just hide the wire how ever you want, pull out the fuse for the cig plug, ground the grounding wire, put the wire (hot wire) behind the fuse and push in, walla you have just hard wired your detector, it will run off the cig power......it works.:rocker:

Go to pepboys get a two plug cigarette light extender, one is real short for a phone, the other is about 8 ft long, i mounted my gps unit on the left corner of dash and ran cord inside plastic bezel, underneath drivers side dash, under center console to back of console and came up on passenger side to plug into center console socket.

Hardwiring a Radar Detector in the Magnum (http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=11339)

I turned up some good results over there by entering "hard wire radar" (with quotes) into the search box.

Here's a couple more : Remote mount Radar Install - How to (DGF Version...LOL) (http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=114687)

Anyone hard wired the Escort 8500? Need pinout for RJ11! (http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=100696)

There is a way to get power and ground at the mirror, instead of coming all the way down the A-pillar - I'm not sure if any of those mention it or not. If not, do a little searching over there with the search terms I used, and it may take some reading, but you should find what you need.

I did start this job once, and figured out which wires were which up behind the mirror - but I never finished, and I've forgotten. If need be, I can probably sort that out again for you.

Does your rear view mirror have power to it? If it does you can buy the Invisicord. They make them for most radars (including the Valentine) and in various lengths. I run an invisicord on my Super Bee and tapped into the rear view mirror and then to my Passport.

I used these instructions to wire my auto-dim mirror. Worked great!

I hope i have the auto dimmer cause that seems to be the easiest way to do it.

I posted how to do this on a 2008 with autodim mirror. The connections for the 2006-2007 mirror are different, but the rest of the instructions for the RJ-11 to the Valentine One are the same.

You may already know this but you may want to make sure radar detectors are Legal in the states you are traveling through....

I did this off the auto-dim mirror- it's simple. Just get some pin connectors from Radio Shack. Cut the cord, and wire the + and - to a pin connector. Then shove them in the back of the appropriate connectors on the mirror. They should slide in pretty far w/ a little bit of pressure, then I added a tiny amount of elect tape around the entire wire harness to keep them in place (you can't see it from any angle) and mount the radar detector on the glass just to the left of the mirror. Voila!

This is basically a home-made version of invisicord if I recall.

Virginia and District of Columbia are the ONLY TWO states where it is illegal , non commercial vehicles.

For anyone who's using the passport..how do you use the mute button when you've got it wired elsewhere? For me it's convenient to use the mute button when it's down by my cig lighter because my hand is always resting on the shifter.
