last question b-4 fog installation. currently have 50 watt lows, 6000k, from aac. leaning towards DDM or daebears (same ballasts). If i get the 35 watt fogs will the 50 watt lows visually overpower the fogs? ARe the 35 watt fogs enough to compliment the 50 watt lows, or should i go with the 50/55 watt and get it over with? OEM cars out there have 35 watt lows and they are weak... nice pattern but weak. aftermarket hid's are much brighter.
i value all of your opinions!!
THANKS!!

I will add my input, however I do not have any personal experience.....

Anyway, think of them as lightbulbs, which they are.

If you have a 55w lightbulb and a 35w lightbulb, and they are both turned on, then you should be able to notice which one is the brighter, 55w one.

I am thinking the same thing will apply here, you should be able to tell the difference between the two, however there is a 20w difference, so not sure HOW MUCH of a difference will be noticeable.

If you are at all worried, then I would say make sure you get them all the same wattage and the same color temperature, and they will all look even.

Hopefully someone else will chime in on here and give their opinion and personal experience.

Here is a pic with a comparison of 35w and 55w HID's (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=7533631)(not on a Dodge Charger):

thanks!! i think that makes perfect sense and the photo kind of confirms it. I should probably go with the 50 watt to make sure things are even.
thanks again for the photo!

:bigthumb: Gabe use the photos instructions from the thread "How I do....everything" its easier then the instructions that come with the unit. you can do it Gabe its easy.. just take your time. If you try without the harness you have to make sure they are not reversed when you plug them in.. i would suggest using the harness. let us know if you have issues or just call aac. they will walk you through it.
good luck!

Thanks, I keep forgetting how usefull that thread really is, even though it's a link in my sig ... lol

I just re-read it, pre-assembled some stuff, and am getting ready to go outside and see if the harness-only (no capacitor) install will work OK .... not even gonna try the plug-and-play ...

Luckily, I have a Radio Shack almost across the street if I need the cap

I would say 30 watt foglights and 55 watt headlights. As it is now, my foglights are just as bright as my headlights. and I have 30 watt HID's which I much prefer.

Unless... just thought of something our car looks for 55 watt HIDs, so does this mean 55 watt HID's don't need a special load-leveling harness like the 30 watt HID's?

Would somebody test this?

Also, HID kits are already illegal.. I kind of feel like as they get brighter and brighter we risk more and more their irradiation and the cops to wise to them...

Yeah, after all the reading and researching I have been trying to do.....that has crossed my mind.

Can anyone that has the 55w kits chime in and let us know if they need the anti-flicker capacitor?

I just installed my AAC 50w kit and it needed the 470mF capacitor to not flicker.

But they look awesome :D

Ahhhh,ok!

Something I have been reading, is that if the ballast is a digital ballast, then the capacitor may not be needed.

Was yours digital?

Some kits are digital, but I think most of the cheaper ones are not.

Not sure if it's digital or not, it is pretty thick, not one of the super-slim ones.

All I know is that it's the 50w AAC 9006 kit, and it needed the capacitor to work correctly.

They really should just build it into the harness, and give up on the whole plug-and-play idea.

thats EXACTLY what i was trying to get across a month ago when i got my 50 watt kit from aac!! build it in and get it over with although some worked w/o harness and some not.
i will check their website again to see if the ballasts are digital. i dont remember. FOR THE PRICE they should be! brb

It actually says "DIGITAL" right on them, so I guess they are ... :)

i just checked the site and the 35, 35 slim, and 50 watt are digital ballasts...
