View Full Version : MP3 Disc - Won't Play Songs

I burned an mp3 disc using iTunes about 2 weeks ago. Sometimes it plays the songs but in a strange order. When I first put in the disc it will only let me play songs 1-13 - that is all. Once it plays for a while I can access only songs 14-26, I can no longer play songs 1-13. It never loads all 250 songs but only goes up to about 40.
Is this a loading feature of my factory player? Or is my disc messed up? All the songs are there so I'm not sure what's wrong.
Thanks

Sounds like the way the disc was burned is causing issue's on how its being read.

I was wondering if that was it. I just wanted to know if that's "common" with an mp3 player in a car. I've never had one before.

Don`t take this wrong but do you have the base radio in your ride? If so it will not play MP3s

None taken - it is the factory radio - it says MP3 on it. It actually does play the songs but not all of them. It's weird.

It's a possibility that is is the disc. Are your MP3s stored in different folders or are they all in one directory. If they are stored in different folders, you may want to hit the select directory button and see what is available on the console

They're all in the same folder. I'll try reburning a disc and see if it fixes the problem. Maybe it's the way that iTunes burns the files????

I use the program Nero for mine and make a "MP3 jukebox" It loads several folders on making up about 700 mb of songs, each disc, mine is a 6 changer play's them all.
Itunes usually burns in a MP4 format, check that. It also plays the way it is "Tagged"
I'll try one in Itunes on Monday and see what it does and let you know if it works for me.......

Try using a CD-RW if you have one to test it, this way you won't waste cd-r.
What Itunes are you using? Mine is Itunes 8.
1. create a playlist on the left, ie Linkin Park (all songs checked mark)
2. insert the blank disc and click Burn Disc (bottom right corner)
3.Select MP3 CD as your disc Format (a window appears) click okay
should burn about 150 songs, 12 hours of songs.
NOTE: PURCHASED FROM ITUNES WILL NOT BE BURNT TO CD, They are mp4, they need converting, that is another process. I know how to do that too!
I did this and it worked in my player.
I Like my NERO program, you can create folders for different music
I think it is easier to get a wireless FM transmitter and use My Itouch,

i was going to say, you may have to convert them to MP3 if you got them through apple
i usually just use a normal cd burning program and burn it as a data disc with just the MP3 files on it. They work fine like that on any MP3 player I've used including my wife's 6 disc mp3 in her Caliber.

yep, if mp4, you have to burn them to cd, then re rip them to itunes making sure that the import setting in preference is set to "import mp3."...long process,, I burnt a few just to try out the 6 disc changer as a mp3...with Sirius, not much need to listen to mp3, unless in a mood to listen to one thing:rocker::rocker:

Thanks for all the replies. I ran into the situation where it said it couldn't burn mp4 songs.
Let me give the CD-RW route a try. I didn't know the player could read it.
Thanks

Also Check to make sure it's not burning the songs in WMA format, as our cars can't play it those at all. I had a very simular issue. CD had MP3's and WMA's on it. Radio only played the MP3's and skipped the WMA's.

I've had the same issues and they replaced the radio twice. One of the older techs finally got a hold of someone and found out its an issue with the radio not the cd... they refunded me the difference and put the single cd disk player with aux and I just use my ipod now... don't know if that helps you out...
