If you can spare anything.... This kid loves the Navy, and I know there are alot of Navy Folks out there....
Alright here is the scoop. As most of you know I am a Navy Recruiter and most of this story is based on that.
I got a phone call yesterday from my HQ in Richmond. They asked me to go out to the UVA Hospital and visit a young man who was interested in being a Navy SEAL. This young man's name is Dillan Kinkade. He was starting 6th grade this year and was set to go to a Jr Navy SEAL training camp this past weekend. He was never able to go. He was in horrible pain and had to go to the hospital. It turned out that he has a very rare form of leukemia and is terminally ill. I brought him a Navy SEAL Poster, keychain, and water bottle yesterday and this morning a Navy SEAL Shirt. It was my very own shirt that I had from when I first tried out for the SEALs myself. I spoke with him and his father last night and I know it took everything his father had not to start crying. This morning, when I brought Dillan the shirt, I was able to talk to just Dillan. We just talked about video games and whatever he wanted to talk about. He really enjoyed talking with me and even told me he appreciated me coming to see him and talk to him. I plan on going back tomorrow and tell him some of my Navy stories. His dad cannot be there during the day because he can't keep missing work because he needs the money. They are having a hard enough time as it is and I would like to go above and beyond what the Navy asked me to do and really help Dillan and his Family out. I am also spreading the word around to get as many people that can help involved. If anyone can spare a few dollars I am collecting online via paypal. You can send it to my paypal account at nukka169@aim.com
Please put Dillan's name in the comments so I can put all of that money to the side. After the MnG I will cash out the paypal account to my bank and pull the money out. I would like to deliver as much as I possibly can to his family. I will keep you all updated on this and let you know the totals as they come in. Thanks everyone for the help. I can only hope that someone would do the same for my kid...
