I was parked at idle and adding entries to my contacts list my Uconnect/MyGiG unit and VR suddenly stopped working. Then the HDD music stopped playing.

I just picked up my Charger on Monday so I'm still getting use to it. Earlier in the night I was showing it to a friend. I popped the hood to show him the K&N CAI I intstalled yesterday and we both commented that the engine compartment was quite hot. Well, it was after this that the Uconnect stopped working so I thought that maybe the HDD got too hot at engine idle. I parked the car and let it cool off and everything started working normally when I returned.

Has anyone else experienced this problem before? Would installing a 180 Tstat help this issue? I also heard that the engine fans were weak in the 06-07 year models? Do I need to upgrade the engine fan? Thanks in advance.

There's a fan within the RER unit, itself. You should hear it come on from time to time (which I do, when it get's warm). If you never hear a fan inside the RER unit, it might be malfunctioning.

Dodge wouldn't install a radio with a requirement to install a T-stat or any other aftermarket component for the unit to operate successfully, so get it serviced.

There's also an HDD issue which could cause it to fail completely. You can either have the Dealer apply the firmware update or you can try to do so yourself (I updated mine myself.)

Good luck!
