View Full Version : Can pedders suspension fit all trim levels?

I've only read about RTs an SRTs getting pedderized. Can this be done to an SXT? If not, what do I need to do to my SXT (ie what parts must I scrounge from an RT/SRT) to allow for a full pedders setup like the Street II kit?

The only reason my SXT hasn't been Pedderized yet is because they aren't quite done with the front struts yet for the AWD! :D If you have the RWD, they're ready when you are! :rocker:

"Most" people with an SXT (or SE) aren't going to be pushing the performance of the car enough to "need" the Pedders. I'm using the AWD advantage and running autocross and an occasional road course with mine, so I definitely need better suspension, and for that, I've decided to go with Pedders. :bigthumb: For now, I'm going with the Touring Package and some of the front bits, because that's what I can afford.

Good to know about the compatability! Thanks!

This suspension will be necessary for a future 426 upgrade so I need to build the car up so that when the time comes my car will not reject its newly transplanted heart.

Are you doing an Arrington 426?

why would you put a stroker in your car instead of buying a used r/t and doing a stroker I'm sure it would be easier and probably less money that way. The r/t or srt tranny doesnt need to be swapped for a 426 but your tranny does.

Because I would still swap out all the RT things like brakes, suspension, diff. and half shafts that it really wouldnt be worth it for just the 5.7 block

Honestly this project was very fun to research but in the end may amount to too much time in the shop to get everything to work properly.

So...this is on hold for now since im visiting a dealer to talk about a used SRT on the lot, lol.

its not just the block like you said is everything the rear end the tranny the brakes the suspension by the time you swap that stuff to just standard r/t you'll be better off just trading cars. IMO if you want speed start with a r/t and or srt and work from there.

lol nice try dude they are all the same and hasn't changed. Don't you know not to argue with me? I am always right and I know everything. The D is not a gear its overdrive. The trannys are different I promise if you'd like you can start a new thread In general and ask, but you'll feel dumb.

06-07 the tranny was a a five speed for the 3.5. Now its a 4 speed unless you get AWD I believe.

This is exactly RIGHT! The '06-'07 3.5 engines got the same 5-speed as the others. For '08 only the 3.5 models with the AWD get that 5-speed, the RWD models get the 4-speed. :bigthumb:

Back to the topic at hand... yes, you're better off to start with an R/T or SRT and build from there if you want good speed. Swapping engines in the SXT's can be done, but it's very expensive and fairly complicated.

on that cars.com like you put up if you click on v6 charger specs it says 4speed standard 5 speed optional. How many of you go 1-2-3-4-5-d and how many of you go 1-2-3-4-d? I have never seen a v6 5 speed charger reguadless of year. Even if it is a 5 speed its not the same tranny
