Need info for 07 SE better sound

I've got the 07 SE with basic radio / CD player and it seems to have only two speakers in the front doors and two on the back deck. Is this correct? What's the simplest way for better sound here. I don't need anything earth shaking but the stock speakers suck. What do I need to buy for a little upgrade?

You could always replace the stock speakers with decent 6x9's and get a small powered sub (like a bazooka tube) in the trunk for a little more bass. Proab looking under $500 for that, using the stock head unit.
