View Full Version : Where is the CD Changer?

I just picked up my 2008 R/T|R\T on Monday. It came installed with the MyGiG 6CD/NAV unit. I was assuming that the CDs would load into the dash but it won't let me load but only one disc. Then I thought that maybe the changer was under a seat or in the glovebox. I looked around and didn't see anything. My wife's ML350 has a little button in the glovebox that you push and the changer drops down on a little motorized gizmo into the open glovebox area (pretty cool). Please help a nooby Charger owner out. Thanks in advance.

Not that I can find. I checked online, searched these forums... nada. Guess I'll stop by a dealership tomorrow if I have time.

Not sure how the navigation works but my R/T has the changer built into the head unit.

You have to push the load button, then select which slot you would like it to be in. I have an 06', so it may be different. The first one goes in easy, but the rest you have to push "load".

The mygig replaced the 6 cd changer. The mygig allows you to download/copy the cd's to the hard drive.

Correct. If you have Mygig & Nav you only get a single cd. However read up on your Mugig because it allows you to put the disc in and record the whole CD to the car's onboard memory. This will eliminate your need for a disc or any kind of storage for all those CD's.

Have fun with it....there are so many options.

I've been loading CD's onto the harddrive already. I love that feature. I thought I could do both, load 6 CDs and upload onto the harddrive. The window sticker said that it had AM/FM/6CD/DVD MP3 Radio. I didn't know the MyGiG eliminated the changer. I thought I'd be cool and leave 6 DVDs in the changer while keeping all my music on the harddrive. Meh... small sacrifice since my Charger already makes me too cool for Oprah. :rocker:

Yep... it does. However, the iTunes CDs I've made don't transfer the album name and song titles. So, you end up with Track01, Track02... ect, on the display screen. I don't really mind though since I leave my nav-map on while I'm driving.

That's awesome! I tried burning an mp3 cd of iTunes songs but it says it can't because of the DRM encryption.

Thanks for the info! :rocker:

It will not play MP4? which are specific to Itunes...however, you can burn a disc from Itunes which coverts them to MP3 which you can play and record to the car. I actually use the USB port and copy my music files onto a flash drive and trsf to the car...much easier

You can also play DVD's while the car is in park or you can get a hack to watch while driving.

Oh.....if you have not already received it, they are mailing out CD upgrades and if you didnt get one you should contact your dealer. Apparently the current software is prone to corruption and will wipe out everything and could lock up the radio (not good).

It can copy your whole IPOD if you wanted too. But if you download illegal music, some files are named things like...B92d5Y7.mpg. I dont think it has a 6 disc change as well. The 20gig hard drive has plenty of room for you to burn disc's to it. The 6disc changer is only in an upgraded factory radio, not in either Mygig. The only part that sucks about the Mygig w/the navigation, is you always have to accept the disclaimer that appears when you turn it on, and you can not have the navigation running while in drive, you have to buy the lockpit. DVD will also not play while in drive. So it might be a good investment to get the Lockpit 2.0. its worth the $200.00 if you ask me.

It wont play MP4's, that is basically a format created by Apply for Itunes only, for them to try to keep people from downloading music illegally and transfering them to other Devices, such as CD's, Phones, etc, etc. So they would make you buy the Ipod compatible assesories for other pieces of devices (such as the aux cable). You can download free, or hacked MP3 editors online that will convert any mp4 format to mp3. Thats what I do.

The mygig is also tight for storing pictures on the Radio while you drive. It will only let you store 7 thou, which sucks!

you dont have to hit the disclamier i know you saw me do it when we went for a ride but after a few secs it goes away. Also its called a LOCKPICK and it cost 325 for the whole setup.

If you have an 08 SRT you should be able to upgrade it. I have an 08 R/T and had no problem. Literally took me 5 mins to install. When I installed it, it first said Jeep, then it automatically adjusted, rebooted, and it said Dodge, and got the correct time from the Sat. Radio. Check out Mr.cd1's ebay store. I got mine w/out navigation for $350.00, free shipping. Nav's run you about 800 - 1,000 depending on how many he has.

Who sent the upgrade disk? Was it your dealer or Dodge? My unit is a little buggy with the U-Connect and I'm about to take it to the dealer. If there's an update coming in the mail I'd hold off though.
