My free subscription is about up and I was wondering if I would get something in the mail about renewing this or do I have to contact them.

you should contact them, they sent me a letter with my info and renewal instructions about 3 weeks after i got the car, if you havent gotten one yet, seems like miscommunication somewhere along the line.

I have received 3 letters in the last month about the impending doom of the free year ending!:lol30: I just don't drive the car enough to spend the money for it. Also kind of bothers me that a dang tree can interupt the signal!

X2 on the weak signals. If its free then its ok, but if you pay, i at least want strong enough signal to go through a lil ol' tree!

funny, I got a letter offering one rate, and a phone offering the fantastic (and slightly higher rate) if I immediately renewed.

I changed my head unit do you guys think the subscription stays with the unit or the car. What I mean by this is will my siruis expire a year from when i bought my car still or a year from when the head unit was sold? Anyone have a clue?

That drives me INSANE !!! Cruising along and a REALLY cool tune comes on--crank the volume up high and start singing along, then BAM ... signal drop !! Grrrrrrrr ... They gotta do something to boost the signal those sats throw out if satellite radio is going to catch on like they want it to .... Other than that problem, and it's a major one IMO, I love satellite radio in my car....

If you don't get a letter, they will proab call you. In my 06 Durango, they called like 4 times trying to get me to renew.

FOUR TIMES, you kidding me? I've gotten two calls in one day, and almost one per day. They are beginning to piss me off.

4 times may have been a conservative estimate ;)

Yeah they were pretty aggressive.

I'm a month without service, and just got yet another mailer with further discounts

I'll see where they are at in another 4-6 months, but leaning heavy towards the ipod adapter

good idea! they offered me $249 for 2 years which is about $9/mo. I think makin them discount the price is a good idea and worth the sacrifice. Drop outs arent that bad here; only under high power lines. ALSO the service goes with the RADIO not the car. they will ask for the vin only to identify the radio as long as you have not replaced it. i replaced my regular with a ren mygig that was put in service 8 months earlier then my original and the service transferred to the new unit which means i dont get a full year on the free subscription. you cant transfer services from one car to another unless you bully them into a special deal....

I'd definitely renew. Fortunately for me I NEVER have to renew as I purchased the LIFETIME PLAN when they offered it 3 years ago. It was something like $299 but I got a $50 credit. Was a great investment as I listen to Sirius everyday and drove across country listening to it...it's awesome.....It's already paid for itself and the best thing is I never have to pay another penny...ever.

I think it was about $150 to renew for a year and I think you can do it on the internet. Might get a better deal now though.

My Sirius went out with no warning on the way home from work Thursday morning. They never sent me any warning or offer of extended service. I called the 888 number and they renewed me on the spot as I have 3 other vehicles with their service they just updated my account. I thought something went wrong with my radio until I realized it has been one year since I bought my car last week. Did get a multi vehicle discount. $76 for the next year.

Mine went out last weekend. I made it a few days without it and realized how much I listened to it. I renewed online last nite.

We found out that they will suspend(turn it off) the service for an extended period of time and then turn it back on. While the service is suspended they do not charge you for those months. We like this because we store our car for the winter. Come next spring we will still have 6months time remaining even though our "subscription" begain in March of this year.

Did I confuse anyone :D

I just did the every 3 months for around $39 bucks. If you buy a year I think you get a month free or something like that. They still had the lifetime for $499 but it still costs you to transfer it to another radio and you only get 2 or 3 transfers.

We had thought about the lifetime last year....Guess we should have done it as the price keeps increasing...

I was paying for it in my 06 R/T, however since I traded it in I cancelled the subscription. Now I get calls and emails at least once a week wanting me to sign up again. I talked to a representative for 10 minutes one day explaining that I traded my old car in and the new car came with 1 yr free... So I don't need to get a subscription till next year. Then the guy proceeds to tell me how to add an after market Sirius radio to my car. LOL I really wanted to ask him if he was Serious vs Sirius.

Thats strange, That shouldn't happen, you might have antenna troubles, some bridges will do that, I have had my Sirius about four years, a plug and play and now the internal unit, call about that too!

We own four plug and play units, and one in dash unit (charger) the four are automatically updated each year, no need to worry about it stopping, no hassles. You can also check your account online and also use the internet to listen at home.

Should be the head unit, it stays with the SID number. (assigned to the unit) so when you activate the unit, it begins the year.

My dealer activated it when they received it to show prospective buyers a chance to see and hear it, I lost three months because of it.

expired in august, last night then called for about the 50th time, price is now down to $7 for three months, and $10/month for 9 months. Told her price was still too high and hung up :)
