Hey guys, thought I would post this thread from a 300C member. I spoke to George about his car, and with his concerns we started with just a couple upgrades. His main issue was the fact that the steering wheel would move so much in his hands when he went over rough road. (Bump Steer, which is noticed in many 300C and LX family of cars). We went with a very modest upgrade the Bump Steer kit ($82.00) and the Front Radius Rod Bushes ($157 / Pair) and htis made a very nice difference for him. Read his post and call me with questions!

Lil blurb about Bump Steer (thank you Wikipedia)
Bump Steer is the term for the tendency of a wheel to steer as it moves upwards into jounce. It is typically measured in degrees per metre or degrees per foot.
On modern cars the front of the tire moves outwards, as the suspension is raised, a process known as the front wheels "toeing out". This gives roll understeer. The rear suspension is usually set up to minimise bump steer, where possible.
A typical value is two degrees per metre, or perhaps more, for the front wheels.
Excessive bump steer increases tire wear and makes the vehicle more difficult to handle on rough roads.
Just a note, this kit is under $82.00 and can be installed at your local Pedders Dealer, your Chrysler dealer, and by many of you with tools at home!
Call Paul with any questions about this kit paired with the Front Radius Rod Bushes, and or shocks and springs to lower your LX and make it more fun to drive and even more comfortable that stock!

I have worked for Pedders for the past few months. The person that wrote the review thread is from the 300C forums name is coolv300c.
Let me know if you want to give the product a try! Price is right for an easy mod

My steering shakes like crazy! at 1st I thought it was my new 20 inch wheels, then maybe the balancing... nope. all is correct.
Im getting my coilovers soon, which of the above parts would you suggest? the shaking is a very rapid kind, and eases the faster I drive.

Tell you the truth I doubt this would help. That sounds like you need some hubcentric spacers and or check the balance on your wheels.
I dont want to say this kit would not work, but its generally used to fix the bumpy feel that you get in the steering wheel when you go over a bump in the raod.

The "boing boing" feel? if so I can spare 90 bucks for something that will or might help.

This will help for sure with the feeling that you get in the steering wheel when you drive over rough roads. It really calms that down a great deal!

If you look under your car in the front there is a steering assembly that crosses the car. There are bushes in there that get replaced.
I heard from one tech it was super easy, and from another member he paid 1 hour labor to get it done.

Hehe .... thanks for the suggestion Dave ... I'll have to do that soon, as I'm starting to get a little tired of the occasional bumpy ride with the Eibach-only suspension I have now ...
What's the word on AWD stuff ?

I doubt that the kit will address your issues. If you're simply trying to improve a 'bumpy ride' then I doubt this is what you want. Your car is lowered... thats just a price you pay with a lowered suspension. Bumpsteer is something completely different.

What sort of "bumpy ride" problems do you have? Does it just ride rough?
The AWD front struts should be finished in the next 3-20 weeks... :biggrinjester: I'll be getting the Touring Package and some front bushings shortly after that! :bigthumb:

I still plan on getting the bump steer kit as it definitely won't hurt anything, and most likely improve something (right ? ;) )

The ride just gets a little "busy" if driving over a series of bumps and then the car just kinda bounces a little over the bumps ... I'm thinking improved shocks/struts will change that ...

I have that SAME issue. Kinda like a sideways hop going on.

AWD and RWD have different front radius rod arm bushes. The AWD are robust and we have not seen one that is torn. RWD RR bushes do tear. If you are experiencing kick back in your steering wheel or more shudder in your steering wheel, hmmm shake in the steering wheel over bumps on a RWD, check your RR bushes.

Ok I'll check it out. It's like a slight hop kinda off to one side when I go over bumps. Like it wants to skip sideways a bit. I'm not say my bushings are not torn just that I hadn't noticed it with the stock set up. I'll check it out. Thanks.

We do not market the bump steer kit to resolve a reduction in vibration transmisions, but one of the positve effects has been a more effective isolation of the multi railroad track stuff.
The AWD works exactly like the 2WD, except that there are 3 instead of 2 bushes

I hate Pedders, LOL
I never realized the car had a bump steer issue until someone (PETE) explained it to me and showed me how the kit fixes the issue. Fat, dumb, and happy is a much better way to go through life, LOL.
