Did anyone else watch the NASCAR "Race" if you can call what they showed on TV a race, yesterday? That was the worst one I have seen in a long time. Contintental must have made those tires for Goodyear, since they wore out so fast LOL!!

That event sucked!!!! It' wasn't a race...it was more like 10-lap heats. If I was Goodyear, I would be VERY embarassed. I think NASCAR did the best they could...although they'll probably find a reason to blame it all on Toyota and make new rules to try to keep them from winning.

It seems that NASCAR is willing to change rules to keep certain manufacturers from dominating...they did it to Dodge, Ford, and now Toyota. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember them ever changing the rules when Chevrolet was dominating. Hmmmmmmmmm..... I wonder whom is in who's back pocket...

I actually went to the race. It was the most horrific race experience I have been to. I actually took my girlfriend to her VERY FIRST race. What an experience to have your first race to be. She kept falling asleep during the cautions, and wake back up when they restarted. I felt bad. All I can say is, in spite of a long day at the track, my driver came out on top, and I finally got to witness first hand someone kissing the bricks.

Man that would be cool to go to a race at Indy. I hate that her first experience was THAT race..you would thing that would be THE event go to. I've been to several snoozers at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Even been to Bristol and "The Rock" before they quit going there, Indy would be a cool race to attend..

Back to the subject. They kept saying they had diamond cut the track to give the stock cars more grip . I never heard them say when they had done that. If it was something recently, I am thinking that, plus the tire compound and the new cars was a set up for disaster. I am sure they are plenty of divers looking forward to Pocono (me included and I hate that race).

To me it was a boring race. And it would be very frustrating to be a driver in that race.

I got the impression from the broadcast that the track surface was done for the open wheel cars, not Nascar. Indy is pretty flat, my guess is they wanted more mechanical grip for the Indy 500 so the car/lap speeds look good in comparison to other tracks. The open wheel cars are much lighter so they would not have the wear issue the taxi cabs were having yesterday.

open wheel cars are lighter...............sitting still. Add in the aero on those cars and at speed their downforce is equal to if not greater than you COT car now is. Some of the problems however are 1) When they testing at this track it was in April, and the temp difference was over 40 degrees from the day of the test until race day 2)They saw the same thing during testing AND during practice and assumed that the track would rubber in. Since the tires powdered like a block of HARD cheese on a grater, it never happened.
Goodyear blew it. They should have tested more, and should not have assumed the track would come in.
My driver was taken out by Kurt Busch early in the race, and is now 2 points out of the chase. I was pissed at the race, pissed at Goodyear, and pissed in general. Pocono this Sunday though!
