When to wax a new car?

i have seen some topics on these and have asked some friends but im getting conflicting responses. some say the car was painted anywhere from 3-6 months ago so it should need a waxing and others say that i should wait atleast a month or 2 before i actually wax it. i have now had the car a little over 3 weeks. i have some free time tom. to give it a wash so should i wax it tom as well or no?

WAX ON! You can wax a new car whenever you want. A freshly painted car is a totally diff ballgame

depends... my dealership must have waxed mine because it was still beeding very good until 5 months after i bought it... then i waxed it... they say once the water beeds on your surface get the size of a quarter than you need to wax again

You can wax a new car as soon as you want. like stated above you have to wait if a car is newly painted but your car would have been painted months ago. If you have the time then wax it!! It can't hurt!

I've had my car 26 months and I have yet "cover" her in wax and then take it off. She still beads up just like the day I got her. I was just thinking a couple of weeks ago that I really need to find a detail shop to wax her, 'cause I'm certainly not gonna do it. I'll wash her, but waxing is a totally different story.

I just use the car wash that has the wax in it. I'm sure it probably isn't as good as a real waxing, but it gives my car a nice shine, and the water beads off well so I know its doing a lil sumthing.

I pamper my baby wax her once a month...detail her with clay bar and detail polish every saturday :)

well it seems like u all agree that i should wax it so waxing it is. thanks for all the responses so quickly. one more question for u guys. does it matter if i use a buffer to finish off the waxing? is it that much more helpful or is it minor?

if u have a black car, use ur hands!!! u will get swirl marks

Clay bar it before you start waxing.

Wash it first, then clay bar, then wash again, then polish. Might as well start off on the right foot. It sounds like a lot but it makes keeping it clean that much easier.

If going over the whole car with detailer and a wad of clay doesn't sound like fun to you, get the Turtle Wax Liquid Clay Bar. It's actually pretty good.

Use the claybar even on the new car.
Then, wax away. You'll feel closer to your baby after a good claybar"ing" and waxing. :)
