Strange: No mirror power in reverse...

I hard wired my radar detector, connecting it to the review mirror with a cable similar to the invisicord. Strange thing is, when I place the vehicle in reverse, the rd turns off. Any other gear it powers fine. I don't know why the power would shut off in reverse, maybe the auto dim feature loses power when in reverse so that the mirror wont be dulled while backing up? Any thoughts?

Yep, Autodim mirror shuts off in reverse... Not sure what else you can wire it to in that area but running your own wires is always the best practice, at least it hasn't over taxed the mirror circuit. It's probably annoying doing it's self test again going in and out of reverse but oh well, not likely you'll need it in reverse at least!

Hmm that's interesting, I wouldn't have thought about it losing power like that, but kinda makes sense for practicality reasons. It's not too annoying at least, because the escort 8500 x50 allows you to change to startup sequence, so I have it set to just beep once instead of going through the whole startup sequence. Not a big deal, just thought it kinda funny.

That's the thingI liked best about my x50!!! I always hated that extended startup test of all others!
