I got me the clifford avantguard G5 alarm system with remote start, but seeing as i have a 2008 charger and the new keyless entry system (chip key)
they told me i cannot have remote start..

Is this true?? I asked 2 alarm places and they told me the same thing... but i figured i'd try here. the dealership told me that there is a way in making it work, but he doesnt know exactly.

Can anyone assist me in my dilemma?

Also, Shouldnt the avantguard G5 lower your windows with a touch of the remote start as well? do i need remote start for this feature to work?:alien:

remote start on a 08 can not be done yet. NO parts are made for the key bypass yet. it's a direct mercedes key switch and they are try to figure out the wiring for the factory starter kill side of it. remember that these cars are some what high tech and its not about sending power and ground to the electric system but rather timed pulse's and data signals threw resistors with the correct value so the bcm and pcm can read the correct signals to function! BUT DEI is working on it. and as far as the windows rolling down you will need either clifford smart windows or dei 529t. you will need 2 units if you want to roll down all 4 windows. if you want to roll them up and down than you will need dei 503t. again you will need 2 units if you want to do all 4.

The 2008 Charger can be done. It sucks but it can be done. There is firmware out for the XK06 that works with 08 Chryslers now. I've done a few but Im waiting for a little better solution until I do my personal vehicle. Not too thrilled with the way it needs to happen to work. And it damn sure is not for the DIYer.

liquidstylez,
The modules will roll up the windows when arming the alarm. To roll down, you'll need to use an additional channel. Looking at the transmitter, you can use * for the front and ** for the back. Just make sure to tell the installer how you want it so he connects the right wires. I've always gone with the dei 530t.

In another post you recommended I get the XK532, will that not work now? I'm ready to get the Kenwood Nav but holding off until the alarms on.

the 08s with the fob instead of a keyed ignition need the xk06. any with a key ignition switch will use the xk532.

I know this is an old post but I'm wondering if you ever found a problem to you solution. I'm in a similar situation where I have and 09 Charger with the key fob and have a Python 990 alarm/ remote start.
Did you ever go with the XK06? I have been reading post and some folks are recommending the ADS-AL-CA and ADS-C2 ring from Idatalink for our vehicles.

I used the Audiovox FlashLogic FL532 (which is made by iDatalink & includes the ring) on my 08 and it also works for 09. I compared the 2 install guides and the ADS version shows an extra relay is required for park lights, not sure why?

Check out page 15 on each for more details...

SE+HO, how much did you (or anyone else with an '08) pay for the remote start install?

I looked into it last year (in Maryland) and a shop told me like $500 just for the install :slap: . I checked with a shop today (in Arizona) and the guy told me it would be a PITA and would run me about $900 for parts and labor. :jawdrop:

I'm sayin' hell-to-the-no if it costs that much. So how much is everybody paying for an aftermarket remote start install on their '08?

Luckily I did the install myself because my cost for the parts alone... remote starter, bypass module, window roll-up modules, and 3 years of CarStart service was almost $400! And that was wholesale pricing, not retail.

Ouch! How hard was it to install? And I'm assuming this isn't a DIY task for novices. :rolleyes2:
