Anybody see this cop car with a Danko "MoPower" shaker on the TV show Cops? The dealership that built it told me it would have been filmed in Pittsburgh around 6 Months ago. This is a real Cop Car designed to bait you into racing them on the highway or at a stoplight just to pull you over and bust you. It has loud exhaust and dark windows, very cool car, unless you are the batee.

Thats just wrong!! Hey Mo, maybe you should require a 30 day waiting period for anyone wanting to buy one of these so you can do a background check and make sure they don't end up in the wrong hands.:smoke:

Where do you see 4 grand on wheels? Panther wheels are pretty cheap.

So was it a Police edition RT or is it an SE since it doesn't have fogs? I assume it is a 5.7L with the shaker but I saw where someone was putting a shaker on a 3.5. Never mind, I looked at the engine.

A local customizing business donated all the materials and time, to deck out this ride,

And it isnt fair to assume they are going to use this to entrap people, not without any evidence of such. Funny how folks want the police to give them the benefit of the doubt, but dont reciprocate:)

I don't know about the rest of you, but if I got "pulled over" by that car, knowing I just "raced" with it... (not that I would try and race another charger) I wouldn't stop, at least not until I was in a VERY crowded area... I would be worried about people impersonating police...

I love the car though (except the whole police trying to entrap you thing...) it is awsome looking all around.

i cant see how that would stand in court that's entrapment. Who in there right mind would stop for that thing after a race? NO ONE!!!!!!! It's real sad to see that a department would waist its time on something like this when some innocent person is being victimised right now. Instead of worrying about the prostitutes and crack dealers standing on street corners of public roads there harassing citizens who get a little pedal happy after being instigated.

GLHS837,
I am not saying that they WILL entrap people, just that I would be pretty mad if they used it for that. Seriously though, how else would that car really catch anyone being stupid? It would be great for undercover street racing sting... in Ross township?? But I think most people would see the lights and get suspicious.

It is a good thought from the donator, but how exactly it is supposed to help the department? And how is $4k on wheels and however much on that stereo system are supposed to help make it a better LEO's car?

You are right though, it is funny how most people want the police to give them every advantage in breaking the law.

Like I said before, it is an awsome looking car, and there is going to be one lucky cop to get to drive that on a regular basis!

I've heard of police stations also building hotrod police cars and taking them to drag strips and schools as part of the D.A.R.E programs to get kids involved with good things besides drugs and get kids to like Cops better. This car I'm sure is used for anything it is needed for at the time. I didn't see the show, but I was told it was a special patrol car used on COPS TV show and I think it was a sting operation but I could be wrong.

Hadn't even thought about that... But that would be a great use for the car, especially with the look, I am sure it would catch a lot of kids' eyes.

As for how it would be used, lots of folks would just assume a car like that is gonna go on green. And preemptively nail the throttle. If the officer doesnt throw revs, of nail it himself, is that still entrapment?

I watched a guy one day slowly passing an unmarked radar car. Cop slowly increased the speed, until he had enough speed to pull him over. I was doing 75 in a 70 zone, officer passed me, and the other car passed him. Have no idea what the final speed was, but not sure I agree with the officer slowly increasing his speed.

Couple of weeks ago, I was passed at an excessively high rate of speed. The emergency he had to get to, was to get back to his radar site to catch more speeders. Literally over a 10 mile stretch of road, on a typical day, there are two departments with no less then 3 cars each on radar duty. It is being turned into nothing more then revenue production.

No duhhhh.

It was funny reading the post about cops using these cars or similar cars to make kids like them more if it were me being pulled over by one I'd be heated. The money donated to the police who IMO have more then enough of my money should have been spent in better areas, whether that be training or useful equipment that could save lives. Lets be honest MOST cops on the job have had very little training, they either dont know the law or how to safely discharge there firearm for some officers qualifying is the only time there guns ever leave the holster and that's sad.

Lets be honest, I'd say you know very little of officers training requirements. Lots of places require the equivalent of an associates degree to start. And the ongoing requirements are constant. Two guys on my reserve aircrew were both officers in their day jobs, and were constantly talking about the training they were required to have.

Not to mention my brother-in-law has been a Capitol Park Police officer for over 15 years, and his son just became the youngest correctional officer in Charles county.

Trust me, if you think officers dont get training, and lots of it, you just dont know. Id love to know where you draw your information from.

Very true, I would agree that it isn't entrapment. I guess they would get some people that way, just not a LOT...

I don't know if I agree with you, those "revenue production" type things aren't just that... they know people are speeding, and if you speed you are breaking the law period. Just like the people who have tint and are willing to pay the fee, if you speed then you should be willing to pay the ticket, it isn't the cops fault for doing their job catching them doing something wrong.

X2....
My Mom is a retired deputy in CA, my Dad, step-Dad and step-Mom all are (or were) correction officers in CA... My father in law is police chief in a small town in Iowa, and I GUARRANTY that they have as much if not more training then some military units. They have an academy to go through, which is an almost "boot camp" then they have continued on the job training, and until they have enough seniority they don't get to be on their own in a car. The ones that "only draw their guns for qualifications" are ones that have to qualify quarterly... and I would like to see you qualify, PERIOD, it isn't that easy. Cops have a LOT of training to deal with retards and retarded situations. Plus cops who drive have behind the wheel training that would rival any "racing school" but specific to being on patrol on the streets. (I know that my mom had to go through a road course in reverse faster then most people drive forward).

Hmmm, EVOC is okay, but outside of huge departments like LAPD or CHP, I dont think it stands up to any decent two day racing course. There is the difference of being street oriented, but higher speed stuff lacks, I think. I've seen the EVOC our local base cops set up (county boys come for it also, since we have a lot of real estate) and its really a glorified autocross course.

Told my wife, whos a physical security specialist, to offer them my services as "rabbit" car, but she wont:)

LOL Bummer on the rabbit car

My mom was a deputy sherif in CA, and I believe the academy road course she went through is the same as for CHP... and that is my only information about the courses... (since correctional officers do not do that, they are "just" prison guards). And my father in law went the the academy in San Diego... so again only CA as a reference...

Wouldnt this fall under some kind of an entrapment law?? Its a cool car but i dont think a cop can initate a race then give you a ticket for it. At least i know that is somehting a lawyer can get you out of.

Ill be they will only pull you over if you beat them, then they get all but hurt.....srts better watch who you race....

Search youtube for "EVOC, you'll see that most courses are like, the majority are small time, not CHP quality. those guys have specially fitted cars just to practice the PIT. Lotsa bucks:)
