headed to Austin in the morning...two nights...then back on Thursday.
Any suggestions on good hot spots? Last time I was there was about 1980, I spent some time at the Concordia Lutheran Seminary, but got very little time in town. I did tour the capitol and found that its dome was larger than the US capitol, and as I recall the streets were numbered and lettered like a battleship board...which seemed very cool.
I know we have to have some locals down there....any tips...places I shouldn't miss?
Thanks in advance!
Doug

Just head to 6th street, there's always something crazy happening down there. You also might want to check out The Oasis. Very cool place to spend an evening. http://www.oasis-austin.com/

Thanks Puffy, I'm staying on 6th avenue so that should be VERY easy to do then.
I get in about 2 hrs before sunset, so looks like check in and then heading to Oasis to watch the SUNSET!
Thanks again Puffy. Local knowledge is an asset when traveling!

Yeah, just walk 6th St. there's some of everything there. Mid-Week has some stupid drink specials, so you can get pretty trashed with $15. hahah.

Good place to eat is Threadgills over on N. Lamar. It has a rating of 5 grease stains from Holly Eats.

Whoever said you can get trashed on 6th St for $15 hasn't been there in a while. I work there very day. Some cool places to hit are Threadgill's or Hoover's for home cooking. If you like sexy women beating eachother silly, check out the Lonestar Roller Girls (all female roller derby). As far as clubs go, try Cuba Libre downtown. Hope this helps... :headbang:
