that is correct. from all the write ups i've read this seems to be the easiest catback to install. hardest part is removing the stock catback lol.

other catbacks have common problems- cross member rattling, tips not lining up, leaks, etc. i've never heard of anyone having these problems on the bassani.

easy 2-4 hour install depending on your own pace and number of beer breaks...

Nice thats what i need is a whole kit that i can rip off the stock kitten sounding system and add a full grown lion sound to my charger. I wanna here this thing roar. I live in cali so i am worried about the smog every couple years so just to confirm this system has all the needed pieces to be legal and sound great??

i believe so. the only thing that they check for smog is the cats, the catback shouldnt have anything to do with it. there are some exhaust sound laws, but i dont think that should be a problem.

here are some sound clips! hope you got a nice sub or some headphones.

and this clip shows how quiet they are on highway (no drone)
http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/ll116/Eckstream1/?action=view&current=DSCN2155.flv

all those are on a stock magnum rt

keep in mind the sound of the exhaust is so deep you wont be able to hear half of it with computer speakers. headphones are the best imo

here is a clip of AZcharger's mango. at the time he had AFE stage II and kooks LT's, so this would be a modded rt.

What is the functional difference between stainless and aluminized? Why would I pay more for one over the other?

What is the functional difference between stainless and aluminized? Why would I pay more for one over the other?

excellent question! I've done some research on it and can't find a good solid answer.

first of all, you should know that the bassani aluminized version still has stainless mufflers and tips. it is only the pipes themselves that are aluminized.

stainless vs. aluminized:
generally, stainless will not rust, ever. aluminized will rust eventually. how long it takes aluminized to rust is completely dependent on climate. in arizona, it would last 100+ years, but up in canada it might just last 3-4 years.

now, what i've said might not be true. here is why... stainless comes in 2 types. T409 and T304. 409 is much cheaper, however it will discolor and rust eventually. 304 is the one the supposedly never rusts and it is a lot more expensive. i do not know which one the bassani is made out of, havent been able to find out.

in all reality, the biggest difference for this purchase is the warranty. the stainless has a "LIFETIME WARRANTY" whereas the aluminized has a "LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY". i do not know the exact difference between those either.

just put "aluminized steel" into google and you'll find a lot of info. some aluminized steel is actually stainless 409 steel hot dipped in aluminum. check out this PDF. it has a very cool picture or aluminized 409 SS vs. 409 SS. the 409 is all rusted and the aluminized isnt rusted at all.

hopefully maryland speed will chime in. i'm sure they know more about it than i do.

netime man! thats what the forum is all about. glad i could help:D

Why did I not find anything out about basani before I bought my LM2's?

good question as well. i dont know why but people on this forum never really got interested in it. over on lxforums and ****** the bassani is a lot more popular. just like how on lxforums everyone is OBSESSED with the airscammer and over here its the afe. just depends on where you look.

i found out about the bassani because my friend put a bassani on his mustang gt and it was the best thing i have ever heard in my life. so i did a lot of searching for it. like 2 or 3 5.7's on here have it, but a lot more on lx have it.

well i think i may be the next 5.7 to get them they seem to be a sound product and from what i read about the company it seems as though it would be a solid purchase.. Ill have to contact a rep or something to get more info on the smog legal aspect of the exhaust, i really dont want to deal with a fix it ticket they may cost quite a bit to get written off. Hopefully the rep will let look at his thread and give us some more info

i found some more info on the stainless system... if anyone ever wanted to know...

Bassani: 439 Stainless

* Lifetime manufacturer's warranty
* More metal content, stronger metal
* Better quality of bends
* Does not flex under heat
* Less chromium, which means the 439 is more ferris (magnetic)

To compare, most of the competition uses a 304 stainless, which isn't as strong, can flex or crack under heat.

that was posted over on LX btw

yup better quality besides the mandrel bends are always nice cause it doesnt weaken the bends as much

Thanks Marylandspeed,

I ordered the Bassani kit on Tuesday and it arrived here in Honolulu today. That is some fast delivery to this little old rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Thanks to Paypal also. LOL.

I will post up some pix as soon as I get it installed. I don't have a video recorder, so, I can't get you guys any soundclips.

Again, thanks for the fast shipping. Your 1 of my favorite vendors now!

Aloha

wow just got my catback on friday!!!!! i havent had time to install it yet, but man is it NICE!!!

already took pics and stuff but no time to post em yet. let me just tell yall the quality is EXCELLENT. better than i expected. mufflers are chrome. x pipe is AWESOME. rear pipes are resonated and the tips are resonated. the x pipe, mufflers, and tips say BASSANI. that pic maryland has on their site is misleading. the mufflers in that pic look crappy. the actual stainless system looks EXACTLY like this pic
http://i26.tinypic.com/hv6rra.jpg

very very shiny. i like. :)

i'll post my own pics soon whenever i do the write up. stay tuned!

if you are on the verge or ordering this exhaust DO IT!!! this is a steal for the price!

OH and the welds are AWESOME!

i forgot to add it was all packaged very nicely. mufflers were in individual boxes, tips were wrapped in bubble wrap and put in individual boxes. x pipe had its own box. all those boxes were in the big huge box. i am very impressed. even better than i expected

Thanks Marylandspeed,
Got the item in three days from ordering online. And that's to Hawaii. That is fast...Like the other thread stated, Maryland speed is breaking the law. LOL.

I like it so far. It's not as loud as I thought it was going to be. Hopefully when it's fully broken in, it'll get a little louder. I like the tone (Rumble) of this exhaust system.

One more thing. It's rattling over the crossmember brace. How can I fix the problem to go away? I tried pushing the pipe all the way against the floor pan and tightening it but still rattles. Do I have to re-allign everything from front to back? It only rattles on cold start up and reversing, and sometimes while at a light. It's kinda embarrissing to have something going clinky tink tink at the light. LOL.

Thanks for any replies to solve this problem I got.

Aloha

Since the tips are resonated, does that mean this system is drone free? ?

I believe that we still have some Kooks headers on the shelf, ready to go if I'm not mistaken. If you're interested give us a call sometime in the next day or so and we can work you up a price on the Kooks. Thanks!
