Been doin some research before buying a clay bar and wax for the charger this summer. Was going to use turtle wax ice but not hearing anything spectacular about it. I have black so I'm wondering what your favorite wax on the market is that will really make the paint look like a mirror. The claybar i plan on using meguiars, worked great on my jeep.

For a black car, you want to use the lest abrasive clay bars available, unless you have a very bad issue of tree sap and such like.

From what I've seen and heard Zymol has the best wax on the market, but I've never been able to use it because I can't afford it.

JJ1o87, The best wax IMHO is Zaino's. I have used Ice and do not care for it, It could have been a bad batch? But I doubt it. Mothers and Meguiars have some nice three step systems!

Meguiars M21 or NXT tect wax 2.0 hands down. Havnt tried zano but i have heard the new tech wax 2.0 is easier to apply and take off and you achieve a higher level of gloss with one coat.

Used the tech on my durango, it's good and all but nothin on zaino, (from what I've seen)
just my .02. Gotta tella ya though, the tech 2.0 is good chit, even if it isnt as good as zaino (10x as much)

Zaino is good, no doubt. If you want to stick with a good wax that can be picked up at your local Walmart or auto parts store. Zymoil or Meguairs NXT. I myself use the Meguairs NXT & have for years. It's easy to use, can be bought for around $15 a bottle, & lasts awhile also. The Turtle Wax Ice in my opinion isn't all that good. The only thing I found it good for was the exterior plastic. It shines it up without running down the paint the next time it rains.

You'll get a million different answers. Go talk to a few concourse guys with trailer queens and you'll notice one similarity...not a single one of those guys uses "off the shelf" or commonly available polish/wax products. The professional grade product is so much better and not THAT much more expensive.

NXT 2.0 any day hands down. Zaino is good but it take more time to remove. NXT 2.0 is so incredibly easy to apply and remove. Not only that it gives a mirror finish on the first coat....unlike ZAINO!!

I have good luck with Meguiars products. I use the gold class stuff on my SRT pretty much exclusively and I like it. On my old black Chevy truck Meguiars gave me the best results and I pretty much tried all the brands I was able to find. There may be better products but a deep glossy shine is a deep glossy shine, no matter the brand.

I believe the Klasse is a paint sealant. I use a paint sealant every 6 months. Wash, clay, polish, paint sealant then wax. Otherwise I try to wax about every 6 weeks with detail spray in between.

The wax/sealant should be used to protect & lock in the look, not to enhance the look. Like it or not the more prep work that goes into your detail the better it'll look once it is all complete. Doesn't matter what wax/sealant you use if your paint is in bad condition, it will still look like crap after you have waxed it.
Take the time to learn how to correct paint problems. It is important to use a clay bar to remove objects that are in your paint that a simple wash will not remove. It is important to correct as much marring as you can safely to allow the deep reflective look that is desired. It also is very important to learn how to wash a car without inducing scratches every time you wash the car.
Every one says how amazing Zaino is. It's not much or even better than other products (appearance wise), it just requires you to prep the paint. I myself have had good results using a combination of products from Optimum for paint correction to Duragloss to seal the paint. My neighbor could get the exact same results from using all meguiar products as long as he takes the time to get the paint in the best condition. Find whatever products work for you and enjoy!
One warning though, once you start it can become addicting!

For a black car, you will eventually get swirls and want some good polish and sealant. Read up on these... I like Klasse products with some Poorboys Carnuba wax to finish it off and give it a WET BIKINI look....:slapper:

If you're expecting the wax to enhance your shine, you are putting the cart before the horse.
You need a good swirl remover and polish to really make the paint pop!
For the best possible shine on a black car you should clay the entire car including the glass, and wheels.
Then follow up with Adam's Swirl & Haze Remover.
Next polish with Adam's Revive Polish (this will really make the paint shine)
Last but not least finish with Adam's Buttery Wax.
These are the results of using Adam's products on my car.

I have all those products and have used them all. The polishes are fine (they are not very abrasive so it is difficult to get yourself into trouble). The buttery wax does give a fantastic shine. It's shortcoming is that it doesn't last much longer than 2-3 weeks. So I only use it on TOP of Menzerna FMJ (which lasts a good 6 months). That combination gives you that "dip your arm into the paint" sense of depth.
BTW, nice job on the detail. It looks great!

I see alot of talk about zymol. I have been using zymol for over 15 yrs. I love it but be aware that there is a cheap version of zymol that is actually made by turtle wax. It is the liquid. Real zymol is hard like a candle. They have several types..like jopan, carbon ..etc. They gererally run about 50 bucks and up. I believe zymol is actually made in sweden. Great stuff. They have a whole line of products.

Ive always been a fan of the The Gold Class Products they have a great shine and a smooth as hell finish. I tried the Turle Wax Ice and i really wasnt impressed the feel of one coat of it VS the meguiars Gold Class was not even close the Gold Class felt way better then the Ice although i was very impressed with the Turtle Wax Ice ability to bead the water on the paint man that stuff has super beading action.. I tested it on small portion of the decal and spoiler, so far no problems. It actually made the decal and spoiler a darker color, at least on the area I tested it on. Next week I'll do a complete detail using the NXT and post pictures. I'm just hoping that going from ICE to NXT won't affect how the water beads up when it rains or when water touches the paint.

Actually, that's just patently false. Only time (or an oven) will speed up the curing time. If anything, dousing it with water will slow the curing process.

Here's my review of the two products. Woke up at 7AM this morning to get started on the detailing. Started off with Meguiars Gold Class car wash, used microfiber wash mit and microfiber towel to dry. Now to the wax, I had previously detailed my sisters car first with the NXT and spray so I have some experience with it. Applied the wax with the supplied applicator and used a small microfiber towel to buff off. The wax went on easily and came off easily as well. Waxing was the most time consuming part of the detail, everything else was quick. After the wax came the Meguiars Ultimate Detailing Spray, I made sure to keep the microfiber towel on hand as the spray will dry rather quickly. After the spray I cleaned the windows with Stoners and used Black Magic tire shine on the tires. Overall I would recommed this product as the shine, once its all done, looks awesome. My only suggest is that no one with decals use is, it has the tendency to leave the decals looking as if it still has wax on it. It's not noticeable unless you look closely, but if you have decals then go with ICE. Here, for everyones enjoyment, is the completed exterior detail pics.

I use the Zaino product line
I first heard about Zaino when I had my Red Nissan 350Z and the wow factor was immediate.
Since Zaino is 100% NON abrasive, you do not have to worry about it taking any paint off during application so the car looks better and better as you add more and more coats.
I was at a Z meet and it was there that I learned the trick of putting on a coat of pure Carnuba wax like Souveran Pinnacle Brazilain right before you are going to some event because it really makes Red and Blacks POP!
I am using now Zaino on my Black Charger.
No exaggeration but 2 weeks ago at our Southern Maryland M&G, two people asked me what I was using because they said they were really impressed with the look of the Black finish.
Best to follow their directions so I use several of the Zaino product line.
The main wax I use is Z2 Pro.
I use Z6 spray after I have dried the car after I wash it or after any wax job. I like the fact that Z6 'says' it is like SPF 40
Interesting thing about their top of the line Z8 which is to be used to enhance their wax type products, like Z2 or Z5:
I found the Z8 to make the Red finish on my Z have what I can only describe as making it have an odd reflection that I did not like so I stopped using it.
Couple of years later and I tried Z8 again on my Black Charger and it really sets it off
I am up to 4 coats of Z2 on the Car this year (I will only do the Z2/Z8 during the Winter) . Next Spring, it all comes offf with a clay bar and I start over again.

Thats a helluva nice finish. I'm detailing my car with Adams stuff tomorrow - we'll see how well it works!
