Just finished my bottle of Meguiars Gold Class car wash which I've been using for years. Was wondering if anyone knew any type of soap on the market that gave little to no water spots - i hate drying the car in a mad dash.

It's not the soap causing the spots. It's the water. There are companies that make special water softeners for car washing applications. They ain't cheap:

That's the ticket. You also want to dry the car ASAP with microfiber towels to reduce the chance of getting spots.

It's not the soap, it's 'hardness minerals' (typically Calcium and Magnesium) that are dissolved in the water and they precipitate out when the water evaporates. They also attach to the soap molecules so they cannot do their job as well.

You can get a whole-home water softer for probably around $300, or you can get an in-line water softer and attach your hose to it.

I'll post the link in a minute.

yup yup on the hard water its a killer. I would suggest the one for the whole home If ya can swing it. Your whole home will benefit from it. Pipes will last longer, stuff will come cleaner, etc etc.

Now where did I put my sodium ion emitter................

That's odd, I've been using one for almost 2 years now and never had an issue. Works great, I only had water spots the first time I used it due to the slope on my road causing a small pool of water to remain on the trunk lid. Now I use my Absorber to 'suck' the water out of that spot. Perfect finish everytime!

I have washed the car in the rain a number of times since rain doesn't leave water spots. The neighbors think I'm weird but it works!!!! (as long as you don't drive it until the roads are dry)

Stock up on about 12 gallons of distilled water at the grocery store.(should be good for your next 3 car washes) Wash the car in the shade, and before it starts to dry, pour about 4 gallons worth over the car, starting from the top down of course. Car dries totally spotless every time, and the generic water at wal-mart is about .59 cents a gallon. Cheapest way to go about it, and takes about 2 extra minutes to do it.

That is a great idea. Does it work on Black?

Works great on black. I first figured it out on a black mazda 3 I owned. I live on a gravel road and was getting tired of the washing and drying, so I would take the car to the pressure wash, pour 4 gallons of distilled water on it, paying special attention to the areas of the car that hard water can get trapped in (i.e., door seams and mirrors and such) and then on the way home I would jet it up to about 80 or 90 mph for 10 seconds or so to air dry it. I would get home and have a clean car every time with no spots.

You probably had a dealer install it. :(

If you buy one at Sears or Lowes or Home Depot and install it yourself, you can get them a LOT cheaper.

The Mr. Clean car wash system as some one said before is by far the best for the money....

No spots and no drying needed!!!!! Uses a lot of soap but for a bout $10 you can get a bottle.....

no drying needed at all very good product and works with regular hose water!!
