Could a 5.7 with 60K miles on it be able to reliably handle a turbo for example running low boost (5-8psi)? Or are the stock internals too old and i should be leaning towards bulking up internals with a stroker before running forced induction. I plan on eventually doing both ,but trying to figure out which to do first. I know i could get more power out of a turbo+head/cam over 392+head/cam for bout the same price.

You should have a full diagnostics run including a compression check AND a full leak down check performed. This will tell you the condition of your internals.

I just had the tests run on a 63,000 mile 3.5 V6 and the results came back that it was in great shape. It's not so much the mileage, but how well one has been cared for and how much actual wear has taken place. The testing will tell you what you need to know.
