I drove down from San Francisco Bay Area to Irvine for Spring Festival. I had gotten my black rally stripes applied a couple days earlier and they looked sweet!

Great ride down (about 6 hours), no bugs or anything. Show was fantastic as was the Speedfest. Had some overnight dew each morning which I wiped off no problem. Waxed the graphics with some Mothers pure carnuba wax.

We then had a short rain which left some light residue on the car, no big deal. That afternoon drove to Disneyland and parked in their lot for two nights. When we left I saw some major water spots on the hood from the sprinklers (I presume). They were huge and had left a solid white ring around each one where it dried.

Drove home yesterday and got coated with bugs (heaven knows why they decided to show up a week later).

Today I washed the car and the water spots on the vinyl would not budge. Did some on-line research and tried some diluted white vinegar and warm water. No luck. I then tried some Turtle Wax liquid clay bar. it took 60% off after major scrubbing and multiple applications but I could see that the mystery salts in the Disney sprinkler water had physically eaten into the vinyl!!!!

I tried bug and tar remover, Mother's clay bar and even windex and nothing improved the appearance.

Long story short. Sprinklers can kill your vinyl in about 3 days. Even if you wax!!! Happiest place on earth my $ss!

I need a hug (and some new rally stripes for the hood).

I just sent the Disneyland hotel (where the parking lot was) an e-mail regarding this. It would be cool if they covered the replacement but I doubt it. Vinyl is a whole lot more "sensitive" than paint it seems.

I had a similar problem last year with the sprinklers at work. They are fed by well water with HIGH mineral content. My Go ManGO Daytona looked like a Mineral Gray R/T at the end of the day. I spent almost a whole day clay barring the car to clean the spots off. I used Formula 113's clay bar kit and made sure I had enough of the spray on the car and I had no problems going over the decals (lightly, one direction and being VERY careful around the edges) to get the spots off. The only spots left on the car now are on one of the wheels, but you almost can't see them.

Yeah, I read your post while I was searching for answers. In your case the water was only on there a day. In my case about 3 days with 2 applications of crud. Looks like that was enough to ruin my vinyl for good.
