Just thought I'd see how everyone else sets their radios for cds. Here's how I got it right now:

Boston Acoustics
Bass: 0
Mids: 8
Treble: -1
Fade: Rear 4
Balance: Center

I think the mids almost all the way down makes everything sound much better.

Thanks

You mean the mids are set at -8?

I have Boston 7 speaker setup in 08 model,

B +4
M -2
T +9
fader and balance centered but I can see why you would want to put it a little rear if you are the only one in car. Most cars are centered acoustically in the center of the car. (ears between headrests or so) I like the punch of the bass and for most listening it is neither high nor low IMO, the brightness of highs is nice and never overly bright IMO, and the mids tend to "muddy up the waters" a bit when you get 'em too high IMO. Really, having the mid adjustment as well lets you place the reference point anywhere... usually mids are reference so, my settings would have been +6 and +11 if it was just bass and treble... it makes slightly more difference than that but FAIAP. (for all intents and purposes ;) )

Here'sJohnny - Ya I'm surprised you say the treble isn't too much. My ears nearly explode at that level.

pikapp - that's a lot of bass on those little speakers. does it hit nicely or is it sloppy?

KStryker - wow....

08blackrt - dull?

I see everyone pretty much agrees on the fade. My dad freaks out when I have the fade at zero. He asks me "son haven't you ever heard of surround sound???".

Keep in mind people, I pretty much always end up turning the volume all the way up to 38. Sounds sooo good even at high levels. I think if I had any of the knobs above 0, they just aren't being supplied enough power or are even built for that kind of output.

That's probably the main difference of opinion - volume level. I find that 20 is usually the highest I can stand... but some CD's are quieter than others and I've been up to 26 or so with them...

You running the volume at 38 explains a lot.

I don't know how old you are, but you must have a serious hearing loss. I tried the mids at -8 a little bit ago, and it's (IMO) super dull and sounds horrible. At 38 volume, the amp is clipping big time, and it's really distorted. But, it's your car, and your ears.

It sounds great. I have been a pro DJ and run my own company for 11 years, and usually set up the eq's right around the same for gigs. I does vary some depending on venue / crowd size, genre of music being played etc. But for the most part, it will stay right around there with some modifications, and it sounds awsome and really gets the floor moving. Obviously, I have A LOT more power in that setup, but it still sounds great in the car. I also don't blast my music in the car either though, I get enough of that clubbing. Also, I listen primarlily to Rock, so if I was going to listen to another genre like Hip-Hop for example, I may change the eq a bit depending on how hard it's hitting. But being that I am a pro DJ (side gig, I'm actually a Fed Officer full time), I am very particular about sound, and for the type of music I listen too, this is how I set my eq in my car.

ASKMEN Top 10 Best Car Stereos
Number 9
Boston Acoustics/Kicker SRT
Available in: Chrysler 300C/Chrysler 300C SRT8
Soundtrack: Aja, Steely Dan/Exclusive, Chris Brown

Chrysler recognizes the broad appeal of the 300C and wisely offers systems to satisfy multiple generations. If you’re more inclined to drive the mild-mannered 300C editions, you’re more likely to appreciate the optional Boston Acoustics package. Rarely do 368 Watts, seven speakers and a subwoofer produce such full sound. It’s a great system to explore the similar attention to detail demonstrated on Steely Dan’s Aja. If you don’t roll that way, but still like the car, go for the hotter 300C SRT8. Then you can play Chris Brown's Exclusive on a system made to handle the lows: the 13-speaker, 322-Watt Kicker surround sound system with a 100-Watt subwoofer.

Bass: +6 (Any more than this and I hear bass distortion).
Mid: -2

Alright, I actually looked at my settings and I was close to what I originally posted.
Bass: 8
Mid: 2
Treb: 6

Also, just for clarification, my car has two subs not just one. I think this may have been a change in the upgraded system in the 08's, because it sounds like all the other boston systems in the 06 / 07's only have one sub. And this probably helps to handle the extra bass load without getting distorted.
