I finished putting the new unit in yesterday and everything was working perfectly. I had bypassed the limitation on video when moving and the bluetooth and IPOD functionality was working perfectly.

This morning I go to leave for work and I have no sound. Everything else continues to work perfectly.

My first thought, before I pull the dash apart again is to check the fuses; particularly the one for the amp.

Can someone tell me which fuse or fuses to look at or any other ideas that they might have?

Thanks.

I came out after work today and the unit is working, though it doesn't seem as loud and there is some fading back and forth among the speakers. Maybe it just didn't like to be cold.

Does this sould like a problem with the Metra CHTO-01?

I've had this problem with mine before I've had to turn the motor off, open my door and then turning it back on again

I have to admit I didn't turn the motor off or open the door on this 30 degree morning.

So was it the Metra unit and did you replace it?

I have really been completly un impressed with the Metra Integration pieces as of late...

Always seems to have a problem. Wether GM or DCX products.

I haven't been impressed either. No volume again this morning requiring me to once again initiate the unit. I've also got some whine introduced into the system, which I suspect is this unit as well. Perhaps I have it turned up too high.

I'll call them later this morning.

from all the issues noted in the posts on this forum alone, when you call, check and see if there is a some sorta serial number on the adapter that would signal being one from the bad batch...

theres a few that havent had these problems in the past.

perhaps theres a grouping of em that are defective????

Talked with them this evening. Suggested that I disconnect the negative on the battery for 30 minutes or so to discharge the unit completely. We'll see.

outside of doing that, did they say this is a problem that may occur repeatedly or will you have to do the negative disconnect frequently?

I meant to comment on your suggestion earlier. This is a one shot suggestion. If it doesn't fix the problem, I'll get the numbers and question them about the issues you raise.

I doubt that will fix the problem. My money is on another defective part.

The one I had a problem with was about a month ago. Another member recetnly also had a problem. I have seen a ton of people use this piece with no problems; but it has been the opposite as of late.

Haven't had the problem since I did it. We'll see.

I'm taking the AVIC back today. The fade/balance controls aren't working right. When you fade all the way to the back and balance it all the way to the right, the sound jumps to the front right speaker from the back right speaker with the last setting. It's just at the one position. All the other setting are fine.

So basically I got a deal on an open box that Best Buy exchanged within their 30 day period for a brand new one. Can't complain about that.

new one working fine?

Just got back and put it in. I had three problems with the unit; the above mentioned, a whine and some feedback issues. I tried to address the later two as ground issues and was just in the process of checking my grounds. They went away with the new unit.

Is the fade balance issue where when you fade all the way to the back and balance it all the way to the right with the sound jumping from the back right to the front right speaker in that one position a problem any one else us having?

Could it be a Metra issue?
