most people on here recommend mopar (for looks and sound) or AFE stage II for performance and sound

i HIGHLY recommend the volant cai. the only popular cold air intake. the mopar and afe are actually open air intakes

Mopar and AFE use heat shields that make a "box" out of existing parts and hood when closed... so they are still cold air intakes.... but sealed boxes can be nice to keep the little drafts out, you just have to be careful putting that down-tube so low and rolling through a puddle...

it is impossible for the volant to suck up water unless the puddle is as tall as the headlight (i dk like 3 ft?)

the gsm on the other hand... that could suck up water

I drive my through puddles all the time and never see any water near
my air filter.
I've always used a GSM style cold air intake on all of my cars with no
problems.

I would not of run a 13.6 with the afe or the hammer. Tried both and my car was
slower then it was with the stock airbox...

I say buy whatever sounds the fastest:lol:

I also might be selling a AFE II and a Hammer CHEAP...

First word of advice would be to get off eBay. Many of the places selling on eBay may be cheaper..but that is because most are places with some guy working out a house. Better yet...if something is signifigantly cheaper on ebay..most of the time it will be because the seller is breaking Manufactuer pricing rules. I have customers contact me all the time who bought parts off eBay and can't get warranty issues fixed because the seller went MIA or is not a authroized dealer.

We sell the AFE stage II here-

It seems to be most popular.

Also, we have the aFe and Predator in a great package here-

Isn't the S&B intake about the same thing?

s&b is a closed box like the volant, but it does not have a downtube.

Im sure you well have alot of people say that afe stage ll is the best. i well say that you will get a good sound and feel a little bit of low end power. I have the AFE and am happy. My dad has a Hemi Magnum with a K&N CAI and my AFE sounds better and louder then his. From what i have heard on this forum, the horse power gains are all the same so just go with what you like.

I'm sure this is covered elsewhere, but I was hoping someone can answer a quick question regarding CAIs:

Are any CAIs smog legal in the state of California?

Many thanks in advance!

I believe they did a dyno test on LX Fourms and the only two that showed a hp gain were The Air Hammer and the AFE Stage 2.

I have done a bit of research on this one too. I just ordered the S&B today from autoanything. You really aren't going to see great gains on any of them. I liked the price and looks of the S&B. Besides, I'm not one to get what everyone else has already got. :ninja:

Dont get a Cold air intake get a Ram intake ive heard that if u go through five inches of water with a cold air intake your engine would suck up alot of water. Depending on who makes it, the reason for this is because a cold air intake the tube points down towards the bottom of your car a ram intake comes of to the side were your air filter is located now. But for air intakes Airaid makes a good one and Mopar but i specifically like K&N.

I went with the K&N from amazon for like $215. Installed in 30 min. The plastice tube looks fine and deflects heat better than the metal. I work for a dodge dealer and refused to pay all the $ for the mopar just because it had the sticker on it. Sounds mean, looks great. power is better. Most intakes are created equal unless you have a heavily moded car. Do homework/save bucks :rocker:

I've always stuck with K&N, and never had an issue. Overall performance vs price is most ideal for myself and a lot of other people that I've talked to who chose K&N.
