I was watching the demonstration video on pioneer's website, and I saw two things that confused me. One, when you are navigating, do you have to have a map disc in? I thought it would be like a one time use, load the maps onto the GPS from the disc, then not have to worry about it? Two, with I Pod integration, does the Ipod plug into the front of the unit, or is there a way to run the wires so your ipod can be hidden, in let's say the glove compartment? Any input would be great, especially from those who have owned a D3 for a while. Thanks guys

Nav disk must be in . Glove box is where most are installed but ask tech before work is done

The AVIC-D3 has to have the nav disk in it to plan a route, but when u tell it where to go you can remove the disk and it will still work, the front aux port will work for any portable unit but pioneer makes a i-pod cable that plugs in the back and provides full control and will charge the i-pod, it is usually ran to the glove box so it's hidden
