How is stating an opinion a troll?

Tattoos are very unprofessional. A tattoo there, of that size, and color will limit the types of jobs you can have. Assuming he is a Clemson student or Grad his future was bright. But with tattoos there you have to always wear long sleeves. And living in the south doing that is almost impossible.

Stating an opinion pertinate to a thread is not, but your sarcasm and thread hijacking makes you a troll for sure.
Not to mention I have seen quite a few of your posts, and "opinions".
IMO, you contribute absolutely nothing to this forum, and your attitude is just plain.....

So far all I have seen you do is start a threadwith a stupid question about porn, a rediculous shot at the forum and its vendors, and sarcastic, thread jacking comments.

Maybe you should stick with your pal Tipper Gore and try to stop free speach and expression

You are telling me that every tattoo everyone has means something personal to them?

Maybe you are the exception and yours do mean a lot to you. Because I've seen it happen to a ton of people. One drunken night they get a tat that means nothing to them. Or maybe my personal expierence is way off.

But there is nothing really around Clemson. Once you go into the bigger cities you will find a lot of USC fans and some Clemson fans.

How many jobs are there really in and around Clemson, besides college professor, that require a college degree?

Not hiring someone because they have Tatts is just like not hiring some one for race. Besides how do you know if the people at your job have them or not. Some people have them where they can not be seen

I think I misworded my response. I do not hire people with visible tats. A lot of my job deals with clients and customers. Having a visible tat takes away from the professional look. You will find this policy in many large corporations.

Not hiring someone because of a tattoo is not the same as not hiring based on race. It was their choice to get the tattoo in its placement. If they had put it where it is easily covered then it would be a moot point.

Ang

yes it is profiling. I do not disagree with that. But in my business to get the jobs you have to look the part.

TBYDaytona40
09-09-2007, 04:54 PM
I disagree with calling it profiling. It is simply understanding a decision making process. For example, if someone chooses to drive a honda, I have to take that into account as far as what kind of person they are. hehehehehehe
I personally dont care about the ink unless they have rude crude or obscene ink that is visible. Now I do believe that employers have the right to not hire someone because of ink. I will not hire anyone who has used or sold illegal drugs in the last 5 years. Thats my right as an employer. Shows that they have no respect for law and so they may decide that stealing from my business is just fine. Just my .02

Trolling is posting strictly for the purpose of raising a negative response. You have to be careful not to confuse that with someone that just rubs people the wrong way.

TBYDaytona40
09-09-2007, 05:22 PM
Trolls are people who just come on to start trouble, and talk alot of smack, and generally stir up alot of bad feelings. They demean members comments, and do not add anything of value or worth to the forums. We are all dumber for having read their posts.
See A14 got his answer up sooner cuz he is short and to the point. I however am longwinded.

Anyway, my tat is my the first letter of each of my kids names, linked to the eye of Ra [cause I wish I could see them all the time] with a yen/yang teardrop in blue and red for the tears and joy that being a dad brings. I don't hire people with visable tatoos either. No I'm not a hypocrite but I've found that tatoos are like cleavage. You show them and people look and are distracted. From an employer standpoint, which I have been and had 22 people working for me people with tats were off limits to hire along with long hair and facial piercings. The service business and the area we serviced was a high class of older people. They did not want anyone but clean cut tat less people in there homes which I personally did not agree with but if I wanted to eat and support myself and my employees family I had to conform. Discrimination I dont think so, just hungry. I am now retired for two years and I am 52

If someone is truely trolling, then the best way to deal with it is to report it. But be careful to not confuse disagreement, or annoyance with trolling. For example, while chite5b's comment about regretting the tattoo was abrasive and sarcastic, I know many who would agree with him.

However, since this thread was intended to allow people to show there tattoos, his comment is thread hijacking. SO STOP!!!!

On with the pics!

As much as his sarcasm may annoy you, it's not as bad as direct attacks on other members. Please, let's all refrain from name calling.

As for the accusation of trolling, his comments are being closely monitored.

I've never had trouble getting jobs, and as it turns out, there are still people willing to judge based on ability, intelligence, and performance, rather than appearance.

Glad that guy from earlier is gone. Believe me...none of us would've worked for him anyway.

Also, I'm happy for those who think that tattoos are a signal of some kind of personal defect, whether WT or otherwise. Your opinion is your own, and I respect that. It does make me giggle, though.

I had to think on this a bit before posting, not wanting to PO anyone or be considered a troll. I hope most of you know that I'm not and that I value you all. But this being an "off-topic" area and the precedent being set in this thread, here goes -

I have nothing against tats, mostly. I've seen many of them, including on my wife that she had done for her 50th birthday and my girls have quite a few. My youngest daughter had some done before the age of 18 that were gang related and yes, quite inappropriate. They were done by a supposedly reputable tattoo artist. I am saddened that she had them done and to me, it reflected a very poor self esteem in herself.

Okay, 'nuff said about that. On the other hand, my wife wanted a tat of a pansy on her left shoulder blade for her 50th birthday, following the cruise I took her on to the Caribbean. It's nicely done, it's actually quite pretty and I like it.

Honestly, the fact of having a tat isn't what bothers me, but I've seen a fair number of them that either make me wonder just exactly why someone would want the rest of the world seeing it, or it quite frankly depicts something very dark or horrible and I can only believe that the person wearing it must have some very serious issues.

This doesn't make me irrational or judgmental, at least more than the average person. Face it folks, first impressions are lasting, no matter what else happens after those three second and most people take less than 3 seconds to decide whether they like someone or not.

Tattoos are a very good indicator of the personality, attitude and perhaps even the soul of the one who wears them. I believe it's a message being sent to everyone else and unfortunately, sometimes that message isn't real clear. Please forgive me if I misunderstand, but don't blame me if I understand it and disagree with it.

And truthfully all, whether you want to admit it or not, there are some really crappy tattoos out there. I mean those that really suck. I've seen a few in here but I'm not going to point any fingers. I don't have the right and you may be very proud of them. There are also some very nice, beautiful and very well done works of art. And there are some very, very sexy ones as well. I think you already know who you are.

If I could pull it off, I might be inclined to even get one some day but I have yet a great enough reason and nothing that means enough to me to do so. Please don't misunderstand - I have three earrings for three grand-daughters and yes, there are those around me who don't understand that.

I want to post a pic of the wife's tattoo here, just to be fair and stay within topic, but I really want to make sure she's okay with it first.

No offense is intended to any of you. and for the one pic, and I think I can get away with this - NICE *****!!!

Cat of course.

I think thats why I always seek out, and try to find other people with ink. I will not ever date a man with virgin skin. I get a feeling that they think they are better than me. Or at the very least they think less of me.

Personally I could care less what other people think of my tattoos. I love all of mine, and have many more planned, and each are parts of me I'll be able to look at years from now and remember what that tattoo means to me, why I wanted it, why I got it, how it felt, where my life was when I got it....the list goes on and on. I spend a LOT of time beforehand coming up with my design, and each aspect of my design has a specific meaning to what I am/was dealing with at the time.

The only one I didn't have to think about was this one:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z168/pingletonsb/feet.jpg
My baby girl was born over a month early, weighed under 6 pounds. I knew I wanted a tattoo that represented her, and when I held her that first time, I knew what I wanted. I love the fact that I have a part of her ON me, forever, before she had even been in this world 5 minutes.

My right arm is a full sleeve, containing a koi fish, lotus flower, and cherry blossoms, all surrounded by water. The turtle under my arm is for my wife (we've been together half our lives - I'm only 29, she's always loved them), and I have a cross on the outside (not pictured). Each aspect of it has a specific meaning to ME and me alone. To some, it's just pretty, but to me, it's a part of my life:

To those that don't like them, good for you, that's completely your right, but don't judge ME because you may not agree with it. Perhaps your wife wears too much makeup for my taste, or you dress like a shmuck. It doesn't affect me, so I could care less. And as for work, I work for an engineering firm. I do wear long sleeve shirts daily, but that's my choice, out of respect for my position and clients. My bosses have never requested me to do so.

Orange is my favorite color..

Im going to cover up the cat on my lower leg. I am going to get a full lower leg sleeve of underwater critters. When my mother passed away a few months back, I swore I would make a dolphin for her. Then I started thinking about adding a whole bunch of animals to be each member of my family. My brother is going to be a shark, my daughter a sea horse, etc....
I plan on having it bright blues, and orages, and reds.. I cant wait.

I have about 15-ish hours total on my sleeve, in about 3 hour sessions each - that's about all I can take. BY FAR the inside and outside of my elbow, which just happened to be my last session, hurt the most. It was almost more than I could take, but my guy did it for free since it was my last session, he wanted me done by a tattoo show that was coming up. That area is the big reason I haven't started my other work yet.

Oh, and the ribs hurt more, but my daughter's feet were so small that I only sat for 20-ish minutes. It hurt so bad I almost had him stop twice in those 20 minutes. You can see the pain on my face and he's not even TOUCHING me in this pic:

I truly am sorry you read it that way. Not true, at all. I have to say I see far more tattoos that I like than dislike, particularly with women. I wouldn't ever say that I wouldn't date a woman with a tattoo. IOW, the decision wouldn't be based on the tattoo but may other factors. The two most important being whether she even acknowledges my existence and whether or not my wife cares. Once I'm past those two obstacles, then I can move on to others.

I have a few minor scars on my right arm, and they couldn't be covered over. From what I've heard, it takes a good artist to be able to know how to tattoo scar tissue.

No my right arm, was not scared. My right arm was burned but not that bad so he was able to tattoo over the scars. Hurt like crazy but what are you gonna do?! As far as my other scars they can not be tattooed over, well at least my artist wont touch it, and I wouldnt do it anyway, I could only imagine how bad that would hurt!!

Oh and BTW, where the skull is on my arm that was all burned.

Nice, and I like the meaning behind it.

Thank you for the compliment.

Funny story today about my new tattoo getting done. I was at arby's getting lunch and there were two lady's behind me. They were probably in there early 30's. Anyways one asked me if my tattoo was finished and I told her no, that i just started it and as soon as it healed I was going to get it done. She asked if there was any meaning to all the fire, so I told her the story of me getting set on fire. Then I explained how the Tattoo was laid out.

The evil burning skull on the back of my forearm was the evil fire that burnt me and the man walking out of the fire was me. As the fire traveled up my body, it met the Virgin Mary and she is holding the flames back and keeping me safe, and keeping me alive. Because before I got burnt I had 6 Tattoos, and only 3 of my tattoos survived the fire, all three of my tattoos that survived were religious tattoos. So they have a very special place in my heart now.

The best part is how these ladys reacted after telling my story. They want to shake my hand over and over again. One of the lady's even gave me a hug! They were so moved my my tattoo it was funny. It made me feel really good. Neither one of them had any tattoo's but they love the meaning behind mine. One of the lady's wanted to start going back to church because of me. And I have always been a man of faith, even when I was hurt I never got mad at God. I know that everything happens for a reason. So it made me feel like my simple tattoo made a big difference in the life of 2 complete strangers at Arby's one day. I still feel pretty good about it.

The little dragon is older than the tribal. The dragon was too small after a while, so i decided to put the tribal letar on to make the whole think bigger. I want to get one across my back or my chest. I also have one on my right shoulder, but i can't get a nice image of it with the web camera.

That's almost worth it. I mean think about it...no one really has to know about it (although you have chosen to share lol), depending on where it is you probably don't always have to see it, and the tattoo was probably under $100....that's not such a bad deal for some leather office stuff and easy buttons! The bow tie was done in Ct. in a tattoo parlor. It was back in the day when they would sterilize the needle and reuse it. I bled like a stuck pig. He kept asking me if I had been drinking, I don't drink. Hey dude maybe it was that needle you've reused a hundred times?:smoke: The guy charged me $50. The Chevrolet was done by a guy in Jersey in his house. When I get a chance I'll take a pic of the other one the Jersey guy did. It looks OK but he f@cked that one up too.

Also, the two colors represent "black normal or good side" while the red represents the side that does "bad things" which i have done a few off. LOL!

These are all on my right calf and ankle...

1. Bottom one was done after my son (baby blue highlights) was born; his zodiac sign is Aries (the ram) so I had the artist incorporate it into a band

2. Middle one is for my marriage...two sides becoming one heart.

3. The angel is a homage to my grandmother who passed away in 1989 (she is watching over my family)

I also have a tribal shield on my left shoulder (protector of my family), a lion's head on my right (as a reminder to always be proud of who I am) and a scorpion on my back (my zodiac sign).

Not sure if I ever posted this one. I got this a few months before I got the stars that I posted earlier. I went golfing the very next day after getting this one - very bad idea ....

I'm working on a half sleeve and I want some car related stuff, but I cant think of anything. Anyone got any suggestions? I thought about a checkered flag band around my right ankle (no room for a band on my arm, or atleast where I would want to put it).

I would like to get one more and put it on my lower back, but I need to loose weight for that.

I drew this amazing tribal design. When I broke up with my ex he ask for it, I said no. My friend asked me for it too, I still said no, and everyone that seen it. I will give it to my future Mr. Challenger Lover. It's designed to go along a mans shoulder blades. I know its silly but IM attached to it, its just that good.

I know it started a long time ago but never knew what happened to it, so post your tats here, work safe only of course. I have a few but got a new one on Saturday immortalizing my grandparents that passed this year, different sides of the family but passed within 6 weeks of each other.

My Dad was diagnosed with cancer so in honor of him and his racing I got this 1940 Chevy Coupe which he used to race. I wanted my Dad to see that I honored him rather than waiting until he passed to get one. I am waiting for Kat VonD to do a Memorial Tattoo for my Mom who passed.

An acquaintance of mine just got his full sleeve done, except the crazy part is that his entire arm is a circuit board done in UV ink, so it will only show up under a black light. I saw it when he had the first 1/4 done under a black light and it was pretty sweet.

Thank you Hemipowered5700, This tattoo means alot to me. I was thinking of getting another of the charger in the same theme because he really liked the first one and I am due for a new one.

Wrestlinginrj. . that sounds really cool, I have always liked the UV but don't think I would do it myself. Have you seen Bio Mechanical tattoos? very cool stuff.
