The prospect of a Dodge Challenger SRT8 (http://www.challengertalk.com) model seemed a sure thing among many car forums across the internet... however as we all know the current economic situation as well as rising gas prices always left room for a little doubt in our minds. It's refreshing to see the Dodge Challenger SRT8 officially announced, so we may all now let out a collective sigh of relief.

As always, we have a forum dedicated to the Dodge Challenger (http://www.challengertalk.com) and the SRT8 specific model as well at the Dodge Challenger Forum (http://www.challengertalk.com) - Dodge Challenger Forum (http://www.challengertalk.com)

Please be sure to stop in and register and say hi to all the other Dodge Challenger enthusiasts!

At the dealership I do business at I was told the first one was already sold at only $3000 over sticker not bad considering some on ebay were doubling the price of the car,Foolish, but some will pay it.

I was seriously looking into and was actually first in line at a couple of dealerships to get the 1 challenger that each dealership is alloted this year, i put the order in last january. The problem came when they marked them up 10k above msrp - some dealerships as much as 20k. Others would not presell - they were going to auction them off to buyers who had put down a deposit. I said to hell with that and bought a 2008 Hemi-Orange Daytona. I can wait a year or two to get the challenger at msrp. It is a bitchin car though!

yes it is a sweet looking car, wish they had the one at the philly auto show opened up so you could get a bettet look inside. I stopped by a dodge dealership in vineland, nj not too long ago to check out the superbee they had there and a salesman came out and told me about them getting 1 challenger in that will be auctioned off.
guess we just have to settle for the 360 view. The switch from exterior to interior is nice (http://www.dodge.com/en/2009/challenger/)

Here is a slide show of yesterday's Challenger launch. It includes a lot of photos of Challengers and Chargers on the Brampton assembly line.

umm, it's matte paint, not unpainted, it's similar to the 70 Challenger that they're basing it off of. I think it's a nice homage to the old car.

The thought of paying a premium for a car does not appeal to me. In a few years , after the hot-flash has worn off the model, It would seem foolish to have overpaid for the car.

I remember just a few years ago when the Mustangs with a V8 were hard to get and selling for a premium. Seems stupid now.
