Passport 8500 acting up

My Escort Passport 8500 has been acting up.

A passenger hit all buttons at once I think and got to a menu, so I unplugged it, plugged it back in and got out of that menu.

Now, it seems every morning the X band is solid full bars for a couple of miles. Eventually, it clears and the radar detector works again.

Any clues?

I have mine set for a standard start-up (vice short) and it does the same thing. But it clears by the time I'm at the end of my drive way, if even that long. It could be calibrating or that start-up could have been changed. Cycle through the menu when you press MODE & BRIGHT at the same time and change the start-up back to short and see if that helps.

Otherwise, you might have to call Escort who will probably try to get you to trade it on a new one with a credit.
