I have a 06 RT/RT and I would like to add a remote start to it. Ideally, however, it would use my existing remote key (which seems to have no provsion for adding any more functions, already has keyless entry and trunk popper), since I already have waaaaay too many things on my keyring. I know the Mopar remote start for 06s requires another fob.
Are there any solutions out there that would either replace my huuuuuge key with something that would do keyless/trunk/remote start, or somehow be able to be started with my existing key? I did a search and the answer I came up with is "looks like no", but I figured I'd ask.
Thanks,
Mike

remote start on your factory key fob can be done by using the viper model #551T. its sold under the name of VALET. you need that and the KX538 key bypass interface. then when you press the lock button 3 times it will remote start. hit it 3 more times and it will shut off. it runs for 12 minutes or can be adjusted to run longer. when its in remote start mode you can unlock the doors with the key fob and jump into the car-then turn the key to the on position and when you step on the brakes get it out of gear it shuts off the remote starter system and a way you go!!! should cost around $400 installed.

Wow! Thanks! That's great news. I need a remote start (I drive home from work at 4:30AM, and in winter that's just cold as heck), but I need another fob on my keyring like I need a kick in the crotch.
Excellent, thank you!

What would the range be if you used the stock key?

WELL if you need a kick to the boy's that can be aranged around here no problemI seem to have no shortage of people willing to assist with that. :D Thanks anyway.
Question: it looks like the 551T is discontinued, and the 561T is offered as its upgraded replacement. I assume it works pretty much the same? What would the range be if you used the stock key?I would imagine that it's probably similar to the range for lock/unlock/trunk pop on the stock remote, but I'm sure S&S would know for sure.

the range will be what ever your stock key is. my stock key works down the street very well. every one will work different depending on the neighbor hood. and the 561T IS THE SAME THING. find a DEI installer and your good. should take about 2 1/2 hours 3 tops to install. with out the alarm with the remote start it is a breeze to install.

DEI installer? Sorry I am interested in doing this as well. Where is the best place to pick up 561T and the other item I need?
