I found this link while searching around in attempt to view DVD's while the vehicle is in motion. Has anyone with the Mygig system tried this install? I located two different websites that claim they unlock the Mygig system and this one seems to offer more features than the other one. This one will benefit those with the navigation system and rearview cameras. Its also states that it is plug and play so not cut wires.

Not trying to start anything, but why would you want to watch/view DVDs while the car is moving? Even if it is just the passenger, seems like a notable distraction and your eyes will wander towards the screen... an accident waiting to happen, it seems.... I'm just curious about the benefits that are hoped to be gained by doing this.

I apreciate your concern but it is mainly for the passengers. I am very well experienced with having televisions in my vehicles and operating them while the vehicle is moving. I have two Impala Super Sports with multiple televisions in them. In one of them I even have a television in the steering wheel.

I wouldn't do it. The mygig is a really sophisticated stereo, and I would be afraid that plugging in a high jack like that would cause problems.

I am sorry but if you didn't want to start anything then shouldn't have made a comment on it:silenced:. It's obvious that viewing Dvd's while the car is in motion will cause a distraction:knockout: same could be said for the navigation directions, and talking on a cell phone while driving but people still do it. I definitely think that it could be hazardous while driving but it can be done safely depending how good of a driver you are and being self deciplined enough to not watch the movie while driving. I have had TV screens in my car as well but I didn't purchase them for my pleasure but for my passengers.

Last time I checked, everyone is free to post comments and questions.

My point was I didn't want it to be taken the wrong way, and was not judging anyone. Was more interested in determining if there was a specific function the thread creator was hoping to accomplish (which obviously was NOT watching TV while driving.)

Additionally, I made no distinction on what sort of distraction is worse than another. If you are doing anything other than driving, you are distracted. Finally, doesn't matter, IMO, how good of a driver someone "believes" they are. There are no perfect drivers. Take your eyes off of the ball, for even a nanosecond, and you could wind up in an accident. Children acting up, talking on the phone, switching radio stations, talking to your passenger, other drivers, watching TV, etc. Of course, you could end up in an accident even if you're never distracted, but like I said, no perfect drivers exist.

Lol of course you can ask questions that pertain to the subject, you should have just asked the question thats all I am saying about that. And really what kind of response did you really expect? I don't think he is going to be watching it himself while driving right. Or wait maybe he just prefers to watch movies in his vehicle instead of inside his house, common its common sense really.

All I was saying is that people make it a big deal when a t.v. screen is within the drivers view, when there are other things that can and do distract drivers.

And sometimes its really not worth it to ask certain questions, just like you said you didn't want to start anything but really a topic can get out of hand sometimes. I think about the questions or responses that I would like to make sometimes but stop to think "is it really worth it".

Hopefully not... Otherwise... It's gonna REALLY hurt when it deploys!

If you are brave enough, these guys figured out a way to hack the programming to change it so you can view dvd's and use all the stuff that is disabled while in motion. They tell you how to do it. The only problem is if you mess it up, your unit dies, and it can't be undone. So here is my disclaimer: I am just providing this link to you for your own research and I do not recommend messing with the programming of your mygig.
