The date has been confirmed. The Dyno Day will be at:

Dyno Tuned Performance, Inc.
820 Greenbrier Circle #15
Chesapeake, VA. 23320
(757) 549- DYNO (3966)

The cost for the Dyno Day is:

$60 for 3 pulls (dyno only, no tune) - Cash only
$150/hour for tuning - Cash only

If people only want to dyno their cars, without tuning, then there needs to be a miminum of 8 cars. If people want to tune their cars, then a minimum of 5 cars are needed. A normal tune takes 1 to 2 hours.

They can also order Predators that can be purchased at a discounted price at the Dyno Day. If you would like info on the discounted price, please let me know and I'll PM you the info. I need to know by the end of February the number of people who would like to purchase a Predator from DTP at the Dyno Day.

Finally, there will be a cookout at the Dyno Day as well. I am looking for people to sign up to bring things for the cookout (i.e., burgers, dogs, buns, chips, drinks, ice, coolers, etc.). I will have my grill there, and I'll have a cooler, ice, and plates/napkins/plastic ware. Please let me know if you can bring something.

Thanks.

I don't have a camera but I don't have duty, so I should be there but I don't know about getting dyno'd. If I do, there will def be no tune... No V6 predator, no tune.

Word is...there will be a V6 Predator Tuner out soon.

Also, to add a bit of fuel to the fire, there is a local shop currently working on heads for the 3.5L. :ninja:

Hey guys,
just wanted to chime in and say hello, and let you guys know how excited we are to host the dyno day. We are planning to do a custom tune on the first car so everyone can see what the gains are from factory stock, to the "canned" tune and then finally a custom tune. After that, we'll knock out the dyno only cars and then go to the custom tuning cars.

if you guys have any questions, please feel free to email frank@dtpracing.com

See you all in March

I'm not getting a tuner, I'm to the point (Pissed off) that if my Charger is fixed, I'm leaving it alone until I get rid of my Honda and upgrade... I got beat by a ricer and it ticked me off, I wasn't really racing. But I don't need to dump the money into the 6 anymore... Not to mention a guy I used to call mini me in HS just got an SRT. I'm just rambling, I'll be at the dyno day for sure though.

Soccerbachelor is bringing hamburgers, and he is a self-proclaimed "buns man too". Immo is bringing hot dogs (Immo, are you a "buns man like SB?). There is another guy bringing some smoked ribs, and one more (I haven't put him on the list yet) bringing sodas. I guess what we still need are ice (and some coolers), chips, sides, condiments, etc. That's about all I can think of. If we need anything during the day, someone can always run to the store. Craig,
I have a decent sized cooler that I can fill with ice and can also bring some sides and any of the last minute needs. I do plan to do at least the dyno (will probably get the custom tune and the Predator).
I stopped by DTP today on the way home and talked to Frank for about an hour. Those guys really seem to know their stuff and they seem to have a real love for their job. He showed me th Mustang and the Jeep SRT8 that they are currently working on. Both are gonna be beasts.
Well, speaking of food and all, gotta get dinner done and on the table. Don't hesitate to PM me or reply back here with anything else we need for the day. It is truely about 8 minutes from my house so anything you need, let me know. - Jeff

As long as I'm not in jail from the reckless driving ticket (court day before) I'm sure there would be no prob letting the out of towners towards the front, but don't you want to make it an all night deal, I'll be getting the wife to drive me home if you know what I mean, lol.

Oh yeah I have at least a 7 minute drive home, lol.

I can bring buns....

The Hot dogs are Kowalski's which are made in Hamtramck, Michigan former home of Dodge Main. (I have them shipped in)

Dodge Main (in 1941) --was located on a 58-acre tract with more than 4,500,000 square feet of floor space available in 59 buildings. A city unto itself, it included a hospital, a private telephone system, and a fire department.

The "Dodge Main" plant was where the original Charger was built in the 1960's and 1970’s. My Grandfather worked at this plant on and off for over 30 years (He took a break during WWII).

Found this thread after asking about a tune in Richmond. Once we get closer I'll be able to commit one way or the other. If I can make it I'm looking for a custom tune on the dyno to make sure I've got everything primed just right!!!!
(predator, CAI, and 180 T-stat will already be installed)

I'm 2.5 hrs away...driving in, driving home. I'll be able to bring something, determined once I can commit.

Ambulance chasers....those guys must be able to see what cases are on the docket and when, and then they send the people stuff trying to scare them into thinking that they need a lawyer. Go talk to your legal officer and/or make an appointment with a JAG on base. That's what they're there for.

As for the max fine, that's usually reserved for repeat offenders, or total @$$holes. You have the cop on your side, which is good.

Yeah, there were 2 coastie choppers overhead and about 4 boats and divers in the water when I left, I have to go back in a few, so I'll try to keep everyone posted in case the news doesn't get wind of it. He was at the flight deck level so we are talking a good 50/75 feet.

The Coast Guard is searching for a worker who fell off the carrier Carl Vinson at Northrop Grumman's Newport News Shipyard this morning.

The man fell into the water about 8:30 a.m., according to a Coast Guard news release.

Coast Guard helicopter and boat crews are working with search boats from the shipyard and fire boats from Newport News Fire Department, the release says.

We pass by those ships in our boat all the time in the summer. There are usually 2 gunboats patrolling around them at all times....too bad they didn't see the guy fall and retrieve him ASAP.

The water there is probably around 50 degrees this time of year.....he wouldn't last an hour in the water. Hopefully he got out, went home pizzed, and took a nap without anyone knowing where he was!!!!

Yes it is sad.... shipboard life is without is dangers.. My thoughts are out to thier loveones.. and family

I remember when I was on the Danger Ranger...we had a guy jump off the #1 elevator just as we were exiting the harbor...off course you know the helicopters are flying escort.

Not to get off the topic of such tragic news I also remeber during the first Gulf war...(1991) at the very end there was this race after a first time in history a formation of 4 Carriers in Persian Gulf; Ranger, MIDWAY, AMERICA, Theodore .ROOSEVELT Ranger beat Midway almost caught America, Theodore Roosevelt let everyone go ahead for about 5 miles and then STOMP everyone. I mean if you ever been up on the flight deck and experienced a high speed run by a aircraft carrier it is mind boggling. Imagine you are on a conventional CV and its full steam ahead 30 something knots and watch a NUKE CV pass by like it was standing still and of course sailors being sailors after the intial salute of ships passing by...the waves and finger pointing.

They found the body at 200 this morning, really sad.

And as for speed, we STOMPed it going to Africa in the middle of the night one night, carriers are the fastest ships on the water, I can't say the speed we hit cuz its classified but it surely wasn't 30 or 40 anything!!

Hey everyone. I just got off the phone with Frank at DTP and it looks like this will have to be a 2-day event. So far, we have 8 definite out-of-towners coming, and so far, 7 of those will be doing custom tunes. Frank told me that tuning an LX normally takes an 1 to 1 1/2 hours...so the 7-8 out of town cars may take up all of Day 1. We'll reserve Day 2 for the local yocals. If this screws up anyone's plans, or if any local people won't be able to make it on Sunday (3/16), please let me know.

I can't appologize enough for any problems or inconveniences that this may cause. We got a LOT more interest in this than I had hoped for, or dreamed of, when I started setting this up.

The cookout will be on Day 1, so, even if you are local and won't be able to dyno or tune on Day 1, can't make it to Day 2, please come out on Saturday and at hang out with us and enjoy the cookout.

Again, my appologies to those who may be adversely affected by this change.

I'm in for the dyno/tune but really don't need it if someone can provide me with a tune that works with my fairly common set-up. I have the Predator, AFE II CAI, and a 180 T-stat on a SRT....that's it. I'm sure this has been done on a number of cars already. If so, and I can get the tune duplicated, I don't really care what numbers come out on the dyno. I just don't want to be guessing when the car is tuned.....I'll even throw a few bucks to the person that can provide the data I need, DTP may already have the program for me anyway?????

I have (assuming it's installed correctly) the 93 CAI tune from the list on the tuner. Your saying that is already the best thing going for my car. Maybe I should return the car to stock and go see the difference. When you add the Diablo with only a couple hundred miles on a new car you really don't know how much difference a programmer makes. If this can be confirmed I'll just get someone to double check my settings that day and give up the dyno spot for someone who needs it more.

Hey all. I must say that the interest and turn-out for the Dyno Day is far and away above and beyond what I dreamed it would be. Because of that...we have run into a couple of time hurdles.

The first hurdle has been cleared. The Dyno Day was split into 2 days to accommodate all those who are coming in from outside of the Hampton Roads area who want to tune their cars on the dyno.

The second hurdle hasn't reared it's head yet...but I can see it coming. That is...we may run out of time on Day 2. Currently, we have 4 signed up for tuning and 7 signed up for dyno only. For each tuning, you can expect at least 1.5 hours...so that's 6 hours so far. For dynoing only, Frank said that they can run 5 cars through per hour (with 3 pulls per car). With the 7 signed up already, that's already close to 1 1/2 hours. So, we're at around 7 1/2 hours already on Day 2.

All that said, for those listed as TBDs, please let me know (as soon as you know) if you will be able to come out for the Dyno Day..just keep in mind that whether you dyno or tune, it will be on Day 2. It's getting down to a "first-come-first-serve" type of situation. If/when I have to cut the sign-up off, I'll post it on here. I really hate the thought of having to turn people back, but if we do fill up before some of you are able to find out your schedule...and therefore aren't able to get you in, please come out for the cookout on Day 1 just to meet people, hang out, and enjoy yourself.

Finally, I would like to ask those of you who are definitely attending if you would be willing to send in a deposit...to me...for your dyno or tune time? Usually, when a shop holds a Dyno Day for a club, they ask for a deposit from everyone who signs up to help protect the shop from last minute cancellations from those who may decide the day of the event that they don't feel like doing the dyno/tune (and yes, I do understand that there are cancellations at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances...I'm not talking about those type of cancellations). DTP has not asked up for this. They are taking my word for everything...and I am taking all of you at your word. I, personally, would like to give DTP a little assurance that we are serious about our turnout. Again, this is 100% voluntary. If you would like to send in a deposit, PM me and I'll send you my address. If you don't want to send in a deposit, it's not a problem...you won't lose your spot on your day or be bumped for someone else. As far as I'm concerned, the lists are definite (barring, of course, any unforeseen problems, issues, etc.). I just wanted to ask because I (pretty) sure that you all won't mind me asking.

Thanks for understanding, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing you all!

For those NASCAR fans who are worried about coming out on Sunday (3/16) and missing the race, not to worry (I hope). There isn't any cable at DTP (yes, I already checked), but I am going to bring an old spare TV and an antenna (remember those things) and hopefully we'll be able to pick up FOX so that we can watch the race.

Go ahead and take JBLAZ off the tune, he just wants a predator and to hang out for the cookout.

Also depending on what time the shindig will start, I may come closer to noon for the cookout since that is the day of the St. Patricks day parade in Norfolk and that is the closest thing to Mardi Gras around here

Also, you'd better get there ASAP...you're one of the cooks! :D

Roger. I've got JBLAZ down as questionable for the dyno.

So far, I have the following people signed up to purchase a Predator from DTP at the Dyno Day:

1. Curlie39 (V6 - if available)
2. Sublime198 (HEMI)
3. J Blaz 15 (HEMI)
4. HemiSteel (HEMI)
5. Cmooremax (HEMI)

Please let me know if this list is correct. I need to get a firm number of Predator sales to Frank by March 1st so that he can get them ordered and in by the Dyno Day.

Also, please keep in mind that the Predators require a serial port cable...but do not come with one. DTP DOES NOT sell these cables, so you'll need to get them elsewhere.

Hey, SXT, How much do you think the dyno tuning will costs, PM me if you want to....thanks....SB better show up, He's bring his Buns......:)

Also? Do we have to have the latest tune installed or can he install them for us..I have my own cable I can bring.

I'm pretty sure that he, or someone there, can install the tune for you.

The tuning is $150/hour. After the first hour, the time is pro-rated on the half hour. Frank said that normally, LXs take 1 1/5 hours to tune...2 hours at the most...but you know Mr. Murphy can rear his ugly head, so there may be one or more who take longer.

Dyno runs only (3 pulls) are $60.

As a reminder to all....the payment for the Dyno and Tuning has to be in cash. For those purchasing a Predator, you can pay with either cash or a credit card. I'll be PM'ing those who are purchasing a Predator your final price after I give the final total to Frank.

i didn't know that. so we have to get the cable and power supply from somewher else? i think i'll get on that now. seems kinda funny to sell them without assesories, or is this just for us and normally they would just order what you wanted instead of keeping it instock?

Power supply?

I'm not sure why the Predator doesn't come from the factory with the cable. As for DTP, they don't normally stock the Predators. That's why I have to get them a number of those wanting a tuner so that they can order them in time to have them by the Dyno Day.

For the cables, talk to HemiSteel.

I believe that the sensors on our cars are wideband.

i'll have to look in on that to make sure. i remember hearing people talking about having one handy for tuning

cmooremax

nope turns out it is narrow band per the diablo menus i was just reading. it is suggested not to rely on the logged readings unless a wideband sensor is available.

ChargerSXT
02-25-2008, 11:52 AM
This is what I remember reading (it's for the V6 specifically):

air/fuel and boost gauges are a must. Our O2 sensors are wideband, so if you have the cash (about $200 to $300 more) for the air/fuel guage get a wideband. I used a narrow band and had a regular O2 sensor added to my exhaust. (because we didn't know our O2 sensors were wideband) Either will work.

I've tried calling my Dodge dealer, but the Parts guy and the Service guy had no clue what I was talking about with respect to wideband and narrow band (that gives me a warm fuzzy  ).
