pioneers have always run hot in my experience. I cant help ya with the rubbing noise. You can go to radio shack for 10 bucks and get a two wire fan to put back in your dash to blow on the cd player if its too hot for you. It seems common in my experience for pioneers to run hot but i bet if they ran a little cooler they would last longer

How are the disc's looking when you take them out Alex? Sounds like something is misalined.

i cant really tell if the unit is scratching them or not...ill have to look more closely today. some of my cds do have labels on them though, not sure if thats the problem or not, but it shouldnt be cuz all my other aftermarket cd players were fine with the labels

the cds are definitly much hotter than normal when i pull them out though

I have owned three pioneer premier stereos over about the last 10 years. They all get hot, and the cd's are hot when they come out of the drive. I have heard a rubbing noise from them occasionally too. Don't know what it is, but it's never caused a problem.
