Does the following irritate anyone else?
Can't delete a song or album (must delete all music on HDD)
Songs are listed alphabetically instead of by track number
No Artist/Album option where you can narrow the list down to Artist first, then select only 1 album if there are multiple on the drive.
Have any others, list them here!

You can delete just a sont or album individually. But the way you do it is to go to the main menu, then my files, then playlists. The playlists are categorized by each album. Ie: if you have two van halen cds ripped in, you will have a playlist called "OU812" and one called "Greatest Hits" for example. From there, you can delete the entire album, or If you select one of the playlists and hit "edit" you can then delete individual songs from inside that album.
Also, if you want to listen to only the one album as you described above, when you hit the "Music" button, and it lists artists, type of music, etc. Select "Playlist" and it will give you the lists of albums and you can select one of them to listen too.

Thank you for clearing this up. I read the owners manual and could not find anywhere to do this. My kid loaded some MP3's on the MyGig and they don't have any track info so I want them gone and I couldn't figure out how to rid the system of them. I will try this when I get home.

The bit where the songs are listed alphabetically was very irritating, especially when I ripped a mixed CD or something similar. The new software update seems to fix that problem, but only when you rip an album from the built in CD player. It doesn't seem to fix the problem with stuff that you upload from a USB drive.

I'm bothered by only showing four items at a time, so it shows 28 pages of artists or albums or 60 pages of song, and I only have about 4 GB on there. I can't imagine when it's full how I'd ever find anything (slowly I guess).
Also annoyed by only being able to upload 7 pics (or am I missing something?).

No, it only allows you to upload 7 pics for some stupid reason. That is a common complaint people have brought up to the software engineers Harman/Becker. Who knows, they may change that with future software versions.

Where and how can I do the software update? I just picked up my 08' R/T but how can I also tell if I have the upgraded software? Thanks in advance.

I guarantee you don't have the most recent software, because it was just released by Harman/Becker last week. You probably have v9.561, the latest version is 9.715.
You can find out what version you have by pressing the "menu" hard key. Then press the "system setup" softkey and then "system information" soft key.
Updating the software is as easy as downloading the update, burning it to a cd, and inserting the cd into the mygig, and it will install it automatically. You can download the current software here:
http://mofv.com/mygig
It also describes how to burn the software to the cd, and how to install it. Takes about 15 min for the install. There is also a ton of general info on there about the mygig. The most important thing to know before downloading the software is to know which mygig version you have: RER (navigation) / REN (non-navigation). Your mygig will also be marked on the lower right corner.

I have like 300+ pages it sucks!!!! I hate certain aspects but if they fix it then hallelujah!!! I also hate the jukebox which I thought was a way to do a playlist... it only lets you selsct one group... god knows how it figured out these groups... and it won't let you edit it that i can see or delete one once you made it!!! Harmon/Becker did not have a finished product here at ALL!!!

I like the capabilities, but it has to be the most user unfriendly interface I have ever seen. Worse than the Fred Meyer "check your self out" registers.
This is what happens when you offshore design & development of software.
