When DaimlerChrysler announced that a "new" Hemi Charger would be available in the showrooms in mid-2005, the '06 Charger faced mixed reviews. From the beginning, the old-school enthusiasts staunchly opposed having a four-door vehicle wear the name of Dodge's most famed musclecar. On the other side of the debate are the believers that feel the aggressive front end, long hood, and short rear-deck are true signatures of the musclecar era. They feel the all-new Charger is sporty, sexy, bold, and powerful.

According to Dodge's Trevor Creed, "The new Dodge Charger is all about celebrating the American musclecar and going places in something special." Darryl Jackson, vice-president of Dodge Marketing, adds, "The Charger name is powerful and draws from the Dodge brand's proud performance heritage. We have a tremendous amount of equity and name recognition for both of these entities [Charger and Hemi]. Combined, today's all-new Dodge Charger and Hemi engine effectively mark the return of modern American muscle."

cover to cover this magazine is AWESOME. I was just at Advance Auto Parts to get my silver star on sale...and they had it there. I got it a week ago from a buddy and the magazine is the best one out there for our car.

Did you see the performance part? 9.63 in the 1/8th and a 2.33 60'? Then they mention thats a 15+ second quarter mile time.

I'm suprised they added that estimated quarter in. Seems like the worst performance ever tested.

yeah, i have 60's in the 2.05 area and 1/8th at 8.846. Thats a big difference. Wonder if they didn't try autosticking it....or if someone was falling asleep at the wheel?

They made it seem like a dog off the line, which sounds disapointing. Gave it high marks everywhere else though. Won't stop me from getting one, just makes me look for more HP mods :)

street tires, most cars are tough to get off the line. The worst part of these cars on the dragstrip is the torque mangement delay at shift points. The other part is not getting to red line before shift. In typical wind em up 1/4 mile racing...most of us go to/at redline....nothing better than a shift light, huh?

Drag radials, I've seen one of the guys here on the board post 1.9's on the 60's, and excellent 1/8 times, but the 1/4 mile lights were out from a wreck the previous weekend. I'm still shopping d/r's...we'll see how much better they work for me...
