Currently have a v6, 3.5L SXT. theres a few ideas and designs i've been toying with. a previous email i had stated just to buy the 16936 kit, dont really have a problem with that, but for near 800$ for something where no testing is shown, etc.... i figured to possibly go custom.

i've seen exhaust dynos from a few other v6 guys showing pressbent vs mandrel bent, and the gains are decent. 7-12HP about the same for the TQ ranges.

here are two ideas/designs i came up with:

http://www.angelfire.com/md/TOWSONFTBLPLYR/Charger/c-xhaust.JPG

basically a similar setup to the R/T but just with smaller pipes. the stock pipes after the cat are 2.25 so extending the 2.25 through the rest of the setup should work well i believe. unless you have some input on otherwise.

the second idea:

http://www.angelfire.com/md/TOWSONFTBLPLYR/Charger/c-xhaust2.JPG

kinda similar to the 16936 setup, but use of a different style muffler. its basically similar to the mopar aftermarket setup.

i plan to keep the middle muffler and the tail end mufflers. dont want large amounts of sound. kinda feel the bark shouldnt overshadow the bite type of mindset. but just something a step up while keeping the velocity high and decreasing the backpressure in the setup.

any ideas or precautions i should watch out for? any help is appreciated.

I modified my borla exhaust with the magnaflow true dual muffler just like you first diagram and I love it, the throttle response I got was unbelievable, no drone and the exhaust sound great when I get on it.

DO it.... stock mufflers are the most restrictive part of pretty much ALL stock setups.... thats why people get rid of em.

pretty much the only performance parts of stock exhaust is the pipes....although 2.5 pipes (if thats what the R/t runs) on a v6 tends to be a bit too large according to magnaflow, borla, flowmaster, zoomers and a few other reputable manufacturers....

slows the exhaust velocity, which kills power, especially low end.

I had the stock RT exhaust on mine. Then took off the reso's and added Cannon Tips. That was okay for a while, then developed a bad drone from 2k-3k rpm's (but sounded great above 3k rpm's). Finally had enough of that and removed the whole thing and installed the 16936 kit. Very happy with it! :bigthumb: (No dyno. tests, mine's AWD.)
