View Full Version : Monthly GTGs???

We are looking at the possibility of having a monthly GTG. The idea is to get together for a late lunch/early dinner, and then head over, as a group, to Bass Pro Shops (whenever they are meeting at BPS, that is). There is even the possibility of starting the GTG even earlier, say at a local show, and then heading to dinner...or even having our own cookout...and then heading to BPS.

We can schedule these on the fly (i.e., they don't have to be, say, every 3rd weekend), and we would take turns picking the restaurtant so that we don't go to the same place every time (FYI, there are a few of restaurants right by BPS). We could also make it so that whomever picks the restaurant is responsible for making reservations (if possible).

I realize that this is a VERY busy time of year, so the first GTG we'd be looking at would be in January.

What do y'all think?

Also, if we plan something far enough in advace, and around another event (i.e., a car show or a cookout), maybe our friends who are not in the Hampton Roads area would be able to plan a weekend trip down here and join us.

You know I'm in, maybe not Hooters again, my wings were pretty small, I had to eat the rest of CGCharger's cheese sticks. And if we want to go on a mini cruise I know about every restaurant from here to MD (my family is there). I know a really good one in Tappohannok (sp?) but 17 isn't fun with all the speed enforcement.

We should definitely try to get a VMP GTG set up. Do you want to start a thread on one, or do you want me to?

Quit jacking your own thread!!! Anyone have dates for when they def cannot have our next meet?? DEC 15 I'm goin to MD for MarylandSRT8's toys for tots gathering, and after that I have duty on the weekends in December but Jan is good!

The first weekend in December, my wife and daughter are heading out to visit family in her hometown, and I'll be with them until they leave. The 8th and 9th, I'm not sure if I have anything going on or not. The 15th and 16th of December, my daughter has a charity jazz recital benefiting Operation Smiles, so I'm pretty much booked that weekend. The following weekend, we are heading out to TX for Christmas, and we won't be back until the 30th or 31st.

p.s. Hey SB...hijack this.

So that means that you could make it on the 1st and not the 8th...which is just the opposite for me.

There's no getting past you two. December is pretty much out for me all together, weekend duty and the holidays kill it.

I figured that December was pretty much full for everyone...that's why I suggested January for our first GTG.

Also, you still planning on having the New Year's Eve party at your place, SB?

Haha, very funny, I will if you talk my command duty officer to let me off duty that night. I had a choice, Xmas or New Years Eve, I think I made the right choice.

In January, would anyone be interested in going to an early dinner and then to an Arena Racing event at the Hampton Coliseum? If so, we can set something up for Saturday, January 5th? Or will this interfere with the college bowl games? I haven't seen the schedule for the different bowl games.

I am definitely interested in GTG. Although with my work schedule lately has been $hitty. Plus, BPS is out of bounds most of the time for me. (long work story) But, I can try and make it work as long as I have so notice. But, anything that is not up in Hampton or Newport News I am in.

We'll try to make sure and schedule our dinners all over Hampton Roads...and some points North, too.

Everything we've done so far has been up on the Peninsula. What about out GTG in January being on the Southside, and instead of hitting an Arena Race, we can go to an Admirals' hockey game. They are home every weekend in January.

Since it looks like more people prefer a March date for the Dyno Day, does anyone have any ideas for a February GTG?

soccerbachelor

Williamsburg maybe?? The old ball and chain has been bugging me to go up there for the "history" and this would be a perfect excuse!!! My weekend duty is most of February so I'll have to check on a date.

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe meet up at Yorktown and cruise up to Williamsburg via the Colonial Pkwy?

Sorry guys. I have moved out of the area. Hopefully I can hook up with a club here in MD. Speaking of which, does anyone know any mopar or charger clubs in the Rockville, Gaithersburg MD area?

Try the Mid-Atlantic Chargers Club. Look for moparknighthawk here on the forums.

Hopefully, you can still make it down this way sometime. If you haven't seen...there is a Dyno Day in March and the HRME car show in July. There are threads on both of these events here, or you can find out more info at www.hr-mopar.info.

The Monster Truck event is normally a good time. The only problem is...there is not very much room at all in the Coliseum, so it's not like what you see on TV. What is the actual date?

FYI...Arena Cross is also coming to the Coliseum.

From the Hampton Colesium website:

February 1 - 3, 2008 - Toyota Arenacross Series
February 9, 2008 - Arena Racing USA
February 10, 2008 - A Valentine Celebration featuring The O'Jays, The Whispers, and Jeffrey Osborne
February 15, 16, 2008 - Monster Jam
February 22, 2008 - Arena Racing USA

I'll put the Arena Cross and Monster Jam on the HRME Calendar of Events.
