This past weekend, forget who, but someone had static cling numbers on their car windows instead of shoe polish.

I know many of us reuse the same numbers each time we go to the track and get the joy of cleaning windows before we drive home.

So...I spent way too much time trying to find someone that would craft a CLEAR static cling decal with 3 or 4 WHITE numbers that are 4 or 5 inches tall. I'd buy 2, one for the front window, one for the passenger/drivers side as required by the different tracks.

They'd be put on at the track and stored back with the rest of the racing gear till the next time out.

Still getting it lined up with a small vendor (not approved) for about $10.95 per number....so....$20 to $25 per car.

Any other interest, PM me and I'll be sure to forward the emails/details of the outfit I think I'll be ordering from. He's getting me a few more clarifications this morning. BTW, they do almost exclusively graphics and decals for RACECARS!

The style I am considering is like this one:

Just got off the phone with the owner of the company. He uses these for some cars at the 24 hrs of Daytona.

Ordered a pair, they'll be here in a few days. We went with 3" numbers, 1335 as white numbers on a 4" x10" clear rectangle with the corners rounded so they don't catch on anything (his suggestion). To make these puppies adhere he suggest a quick spray of water or windex, then apply and you are good to go. They come with their own liner to store for future use. He had just gotten another call from a guy up north doing the same thing but with VERTICAL numbers for the windshield(s).

I'll post pics and report on quality once they come in. Something different and professional looking for the track - plus it keeps the shoe polish off the car. :)

Interesting. Thought about doing this, but a couple of racers I know tried the static cling numbers and they ended up only lasting a couple of events...then they stopped clinging. Keep us up to date on these letters. Also, if you don't like shoe polish (which I found a lot of people that I run with use), buy the Dial-In chalk. Looks like shoe polish, but you just wipe it off dry. No need to scrap it off or get it wet to remove and leaves no residue. Make changing dial-ins quicker and easier. Also, when you wipe it off, it turns into "chalk", so any remaining "powder" you just blow off the car. But, I do like the clean look of printed numbers.

First of all, nice shipping, quality appearance and a FREE Set was shipped and included by Brent. VERY COOL!!!

instructions are simple, provided and suggest a soapy liquid be placed on the window for greatest adhesion. It also suggest 3 hrs drying time...that won't be happening :D

I've placed the sidewindow decal on, took about 45 seconds of pushing bubbles to the edged and trying to get maximum STICK. Did the one on the front window - but D'oh, never snapped a pic of that one. I can later, but same approach.

Road Test - on ramp to 90, after 60 minutes of drying....zero movement. No bubbles noticed, Happy consumer!!!

Here are a few snaps.

Good idea. I like it alot. I can't stand cleaning the shoepolish off. Its a real pain.

Right now I have permanent numbers on from decals dot com but they don't go on and off.

used them a couple times now and very pleased. This week the company that made them emailed me to make sure I was satisfied. Pretty impressive for a low dollar ticket buy that they'd take the time.

I'd go this route again...and again... :D
