man, my wife is killing me!!!! here is the deal. my uncle buys 4 tickets to the daytona 500. this has been going on since my grandfather started going to the daytona 500 when i was a kid and my uncle continued it.
well, his family has abandoned him and doesn't want to go any more.....can you believe that? sorry - continuing on, so i got a phone call from my father explaining if i can come up with 500 per ticket i can grab at least 1 ticket, if not all 3.........my wife said no! i keep trying to explain to her that this is THE race of the year...people kill to get tickets and here they are right in front of me. she is an accountant and tax season is a killer for her company so that is one of the reasons (which i understand, she needs more support now than ever - esp. with me being in iraq last year and her doing it all by herself, but still - it's the D A Y T O N A 5 0 0! how often do tickets just fall in your lap....and oh, to really dig this in to you nascar guys....my uncle never buys anything but the best so you got it....front row stretch right in front of the pits toward the finish line.......can you hear me crying?
ok vented enough - on a side note - i am stricking a potential deal that will allow me to get the kwcoilover kit if she doesn't let me go! (which i think i have already lost the battle) and no shopping for her!

damn hemichemi - you are killing me! hehe.......<think i can work the register?>
seriously money isn't the issue - the kwcoilovers that she is trading out for are over 1500..........
she just doesn't get it?!

Bro - $500 a ticket is a chunk.
Don't get me wrong I'm a huge NASCAR fan.
All sporting events are way to out of control with prices now. You can't really go see a game or race with out dropping 3-400 in one day.
Money is not the issue - it's the point of paying all that money to watch a game or a race. I'd much rather sit at home and have the advantage of replays and BSing with my friends.
That being said. I would be willing to shell out some dough (ONE TIME ONLY) for Daytona......

I would love to go to Daytona 500 at least once in my life....but not until I am fully retired and can spend a week or more down there before and after the race. I was heading to Disney last year, and went by the Daytona track the day of the race. The traffic on I-4 from Orlando was a parking lot heading to the track. There were guys in the backs of trucks with their grills already fired up.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to go to the race, but I CAN'T stand that much traffic (and I like to be able to see the entire race/track from my seat  ). Traffic is also the reason that I won't go to Bristol until I retire. Richmond (where I'll be for both of the Cup and Busch races) is just the right size track, and the traffic (surprisingly) isn't that bad (especially if you take the free shuttle).
GoDaddy, if your family keeps the tradition going for the next 30+ years, keep me in mind. I'll be ready, able, and willing to take a couple of tickets off of your hands for the 2037/38/39/.... Daytona 500.

it is a ton of money and while he is providing a place to stay i am looking at food and fuel and ummmm beer to pay for also so.......i guess i can wait.
i also love watching the races on the boob tube but there is nothing like being at a race. i am a HUGE football fan...i waste a few hundred every year to be able to watch my bills here in louisiana. i have been to many, many nfl games at various locations...in fact i have been to many professional games of all types and Nothing, nada, zilch can compare to going to a race weekend. if you never have done it - ya just don't what you are missing. it is a great experience!
so with that all said - i am not going. chargersxt - we will have to meet up for daytona. maybe someday i will retire. lol

ok guys the final ballot came in today and i am going to daytona. i am 32 and will probably never go again. this will be one of the "must do before die" things i can cross off of the man list. total cost is 850.00, but before you have a heartache look at what it gets me:
condo on daytona beach from wed. to mon.
twin 150s on thurs
truck series and Iroc race on friday
busch race on sat
daytona 500 on sunday
am i crazy? probably
will this cut into the mod budget? yes
but you only live once and if i never get to a super bowl at least i can say i went once to the daytona 500 (and a bunch of other races)
