Early Warning

Set the Calendar for.

September 22-24-2006

Make your plans now. Plan this year’s Family vacation around it. Plan for it when making plans for the Family get together. Make sure the Boss knows your going to be off that weekend. Bring the whole family.

Just Be there!!!!!!

This is the best car show in the Midwest.

The town is completely about cars and this show that weekend. They close the downtown 20 blocks of cars from ever walk of live and every make. The best part is the Miles of Cars in the opening ceremony Parade. That’s right we parade from one end of Springfield to the other. Ever mile of road people lined to see you and your car drive by very cool. There are vendors there's demo's there's Elvis. Live Music great food great little shops. I don't know what else to say other then. If you miss this you WILL regret it.

2005 we had 5 cars out there and 9 of us had the best time hangin out we have stories that only we can share. By that I mean we could never say how great a time we all had you had to be there. We made friend that we’ll remember for a long time.

This year we hoping to have a huge turn out. the Corvette club of America came out they had one whole block of Vetts. It would be great if we could show that the American Muscle car is back and in Full force.

And just so everone knows how awsome this show was. Our very own Hippy dippy video master has this great Movie for all to see.

Thanks to Grinner we now present:
RT 66 2005
Enjoy

I just gotta have em every time I get down to Springfield! Every self respecting, grease loving midwesterner would back me up on that. I got the Cozy Dogs in Illinois, and Pronto Pups for when I get back home to Minnesota for the State Fair.

If it ain't deep fried......it ain't no good!

I am looking at more people to get on the list for Rt66 fest. We are trying to get more Lx cars than Corvette's or mustangs. Please help out. The Corvette's took up a whole street last year. So David (klass) from 300 forum is going to look into group rate down there but need some names for the show by July 21. Please start to add to list if interested.

Best Inns of America
500 North 1st Street
217-522-1100
$45.99 plus tax

Hilton Springfield Hotel
7th & Adams Streets
217-789-1530 or 1-800-445-8667
$89.00 plus tax with 1 parking pass for each room
www.hilton.com

Mansion View Inn & Suites
529 South 4th Street
217-544-7411
$65.00 for one or two persons occupancy,
plus tax

These rates are taken directly from the Route66 Website. I'm attempting to negotiate these down further. The reason why I have chosen these 3 is because they're in the heart of Downtown Springfield. This would be great staying in the middle of all of the action.

What are your thoughts????? Do you prefer cheap over comfort? If so, Best Inns or Mansion View would be the choice. If you choose the Hilton, it's about 25 floors and has a restaurant and bar inside.....plus I believe there's a pool......(Personally, I'm all over that!!!!!)

I just got hooked up to this event. Looks like it would be one event not to miss in this area.

Called the Hilton downtown and the $89 rate is all booked. They can only do at $129. I may try another hotel and try to meet up with you somehow.

Since this is new to me have a question or 2. Did you all register with Rt66fest.com? Is there a place you are going be meeting and at what day/time?

Majority of the people are staying at the Hilton. On Friday we line up at IDOT for the cruise. I know I would like to be down there by 3:00 to get everything cleaned. Are you doing anything tomorrow? We have a meet and greet with the NextGenMuscleCars in Vernon Hills at the Hooters at 3:00. Why don't you stop by.

If any of you Charger guys are interested here is the Lates intel.

Talked to Lynn the event conorinator. She tells me that if we all come in as a group on Friday that we can leave our cars where they're parked and just walk the registration to the main gate on Saturday morning.(this is for people staying at the Hilton or right downtown) She was great to talk to she said give her a call on Friday evening and she will do every thing she can to get us taken care of.
Now for anyone that is coming in Saturday you have to let me know and you MUST!!!! get there really early Lynn said she will try and get you with the rest of the group. The Earlier the better.

Let me know where in the downtown area the LX club is parking their cars and I will be there! Would I be able to park my Charger with the other LX cars? Since I only live about 40 minutes from Springfield, getting a hotel room won't be necessary, but I would like to meet some of the people on this forum that attend.

Nope, I won't be coming. Got the chance to go to the final Cart race of the season at Elkhart and take my car on the track. So off to Road America I go that weekend.
