This may be a really stupid question. Why does only the right rear spin in a V6 SXT but both spin in an RT?

No one has an answer? hmmm

both of them have the same differential and transmition right??

I guess next time I do one, I'll have to have an exterior witness!

Who needs a witness. Just take a look at whether you left this ----------- or this ========

I care. That is why I posted it in the first place. I would like to know if our V6 models have a different differential or if it's just a power issue that can be cured by simply romping on it harder!

Steel,
I don't know the answer to your question, but might I suggest that you try "romping on it harder" and see if that fixes your problem/answers your question?   :D
(sorry....couldn't resist :embarrese )

The same transmission is standard on all the chargers. The rearend gearing for the SE/SXT is 2.87 while the RT is 2.82. Hope that helps.

but that is to compensate the wheel size.. right??

Well, either what you asked or to put more power to the rear tires. I don't know much about these low numbered rearends...meaning I only know that the higher the number the more power to the wheels. I'm more used to 3.73's, 4.10's, etc.

I don't know about you, but when I turn the traction control off I can get both wheels to spin when I stomp the gas....

Simple answer: Wear your tires out a little and I'm sure they'll spin much more easily :D

Ok, I did it. I let it all hang out....power braked it and stomped the gas in 1st gear with the traction control off. It snapped my head back and nearly broke my neck. After the thick cloud of smoke cleared I had layed down 150 ft of dual burnt rubber tracks. Then I looked over and gave the bikini clad Playboy bunnies a quick wink as I passed them by. Then..............I woke up. Still just an SXT in the garage. Damn!!!

I generally assumed that the se/sxt chargers didn't have a LSD (limited slip differential), so therefore an open diff, causing the car to peglegg when doing a burnout. I'm yet to burnout on pavement, but the car should does in the snow! I know the dodge truck have an option of either 3:55 or 3:92, maybe i can bolt in one of those, hopefully their a full posi tract as well!

I have tried on rare occasions to do a burnout with my SXT with no success. I turned off the ESP, but still no cherps. Do I have to stand on the brakes first ?

Yep, turn off ESP, put auto-stick to 1, hold brake with left foot, stomp on the gas with right foot! My SXT leaves about 8 feet of dual skid marks. Not bad for a 6 banger!

Looks like I got something to do tomorrow besides washing the car now!

Yes! this is fun. I had it sideways on a huge drift from a tight left turn. I have had my tires chirp on a dead stop with out using the brake. But with the power bake burnouts are fun.

Did you say Power BAKE? Man, you must be getting on it hard if you're BAKING your tires! I'm impressed!

correct me if i'm wrong..but isn't powerbreaking like this horrible for the cars?

Everything in moderation!
Use it...don't abuse it!
Know when to say when!

Regular use of it will most certainly take it's toll on the whole vehicle. I would not consider purchasing a vehicle where this has been done on a regular basis - no way.
