Hello,

ill admit i had delusions of 12.99 when i hit the track yesterday. I have a cai and magnaflow on her and i hoped i could shatter my best of 13.4.

ESP off,in drive, revved to about 1500 or so rpm, waited for the third yellow and hit it.

I had a 1/4 tank gas and 26 psi in the backs.

My theory is that these things are tuned pretty decent from the factory and bolt ons just arent going to do much. I am really going to do the 180 tstat and coolit fan though, this baby runs hot!

The CAI & catbacks are only good for 10-15 hp....about 1 tenth......heat and other conditions could easily have taken more than 1 tenth away......under ideal conditions you would have needed ~50 more horses to go from 13.4 to 12.9.....gonna take heads and a cam to do that..

HAHAHAHAHA !!

Sorry I had to do that.......If you want more speed you need more than just a few bolt-ons.......

Dont get me wrong. I didnt expect to bolt on a couple things and wham 12's

My first time ever at the track i got a 13.4 I hoped after a few times going i could get a better run and that coupled with mods would get me better times.

There is room for improvement on my 60' and reaction. I think realistically though 12's just may never happen:cry:

I would think that with a set of LT's and a pair of nitto Dr's you would should be there.
What about a Zex kit?
Even at the lowest setting [75 fwhp] you would be a solid 12 second car and your engines internals would not even notice it.
Very popular mod here among these forums.

I got a best of 13.24 my only time to the track and have hopes of 12.9x's. They say the B&G is good for another 2/10ths but we'll see. I better wait for that 40* weather with a 60MPH tailwind.

Jeff

P.S. I hate you people who say "I got 12.99 stock." Same way when I hated those people (when I had a RT) who said they got 13.80 stock with a RT. They must be running downhill or 2000 feet below see level :-)

Im kinda waiting on the diablo tuner. Im thinking that might be better than the B&G .

Its fun running the beast whether i can hit the 12s or not. But it would be nice to see 12's

A CAI and Catback will do little to nothing to an SRT seriously both these components are pretty much 'maximised' out of the factory, that is unless you do something that requires more airflow such as headers, cam and lifters.

Those mods will not make your car run a quicker time and the Diablo Predator isn't going to do anything either.

You guys never give up...hahahahahah...,.no..a cai or exhaust will do nothing...it has been proven so many times at the track...just causes the trap speeds to increase and the Ets to drop......and of course the govt allowed the SRT engineers to max the SRT8s out..       ............hey rossb...have you sold your Charger yet??........

i dont understand how the diablo wont help. but thats just me.

I think our cars are set up to breath real good factory. i would concentrate on that t stat and maybe weight removal. I say go for the programmer or zex too but thats in time. My issue is these junk ass stock michelin's

I hope you are wrong. I say it is a 50/50 chance that it will ever make it to market as advertised.

Uhm, yeah take it from the two guys who don't have SRT-8's, mods don't work on SRT's!

I've seen the CAI and catbacks add about 20RWHP for people on average, and the Predator may or may not add another 20-30RWHP, it is supposed to be good for 20 on the 5.7L's. We'll see if they have tunes for the 6.1L, but I have to imagine they do, even the 6.1L certainly run a bit rich from the factory, factory tunes are always rich for reliability reasons.

Truthfully though, if you want real power, you do need to look at intake/heads/cams. CAI/headers/exhaust are required to get the most out of those mods, so they're a good starting point, but the real power is not in the latter mods, it's made when you have all of them together and a good tune.

Umm, yeah sure. 50 RWHP from CAI, catback, and a handheld? Post your before and after dyno and track numbers.

I had the same fantasy of running a 12.99 today at Lebanon, NY ... Last year I ran a 13.18 @ 105.6 bone stock ... I put a Corsa exhaust system on and dropped a K&N filter in the stock box, and the best I could wring out of her today was a 13.40 @ 104.1 ...

What gives ?? It was a great, cool morning too ... Should I be doing anything to adjust the gas flow since it's breathing more air now ?

I honestly felt high 12's were reachable, but maybe not ??

This isn't true. My charger ran a 12.91 @110 with only 180 thermostat and zoomers. Make the fan mod jumper and ice your intake before every run. Let the car sit for at least an hour before racing. Get the engine as cool as possible. 12.9's are a easy goal for our cars.
