Hi all i am a fairly new charger owner I have a 2006 RT. I recently went to a test and tune night for drag racing and Ran my car 6 times. it was allot of fun and I think i am hooked. I was a little puzzled though. My Best run was:

R/T .669
60' 2.333
330 6.313
1/8 9.530
MPH 76.27
1000 12.321
1/4 14.663
MPH 95.67

I am curious because I have seen runs in the 13 range on the forum and dragtimes.com for RT's. I have DMH Cutouts which added about 8 hp (they dyno'd closed and open for me) NoESP mod, AFE stage II CAI and SuperChips Flashpaq set for performance 91 octane ( I think i set it up right). Am I crazy or am I running the times I should be?

Thanks
Rob

Those are good times for an R/T
what is your elevation?

rolap

558 feet above sea level

Several source on the internet have different numbers this was most consistant

0 feet above sea level

Those are good solid times for the R/T but with your listed mods, I believe that they could, and should be, lower than that

There is a thread located in Track Talk called Track Techniques...go read through it! It contains some very useful information

I got just about the same mods as you minus the "Cutouts" and I'm doing 14.06 - 14.1 in the quarter mile. Looks to me that the difference is in our 60' times. Yours was a 2.333 and I'm in the 2.04 range. So I'm guessing your spinning your tire pretty good when you launch. If your on your street tires make sure to drop the pressure in back to 25 psi and pump the front up to 45 psi. Then when you go to the line drive around the water box (if you can), just do a quick burnout to get the gravel off you tires. Once your staged bring you rpms up to about 1500. Then when you launch don't just mash the throttle to the floor, try to roll into it. This should help bring down your 60' times which in turn will greatly reduce your 1/4 mile times.

Hope this helps, Good Luck!

^^ 2X...

If you can take .3 of your 60's you will take .3 to .4 off your 1/4. Your speed is pretty good. You might try running with the cutouts closed. Open cutouts may be giving you a bit on the launch but you need the scavenging effect of a full exhaust to pull out the speed at the end.

Some other important question to answer about the conditions need to be answered before we can really tell if you are running in the ballpark. What was your engine temp when you ran? Knowing the altitude is great but what was the actual DRA. Engine temp, ambient air temp, baro pressure and humidity play as much as or more of a roll than just altitude. Track surface temp makes a difference on your launch too.

Thanks guys for the input I am going the evening and will try to implement the advice. My engine temp at the start on one of my runs was 208 and the ambient air was like 85. I will post times tomorrow to see if I learned anything. This forum is a wealth of knowlege. :)

thanks again

No, the cut outs won't be having any impact on the launch.
They won't help at all untill your at 3000 rpms and climbing.
Best mods that will help that 60' are DR's and a stall.

I want to thank you guys and Cherry for the advice. Last night my best run:

R/t .652
60' 2.087
330 5.899
1/8 9.016
MPH 78.41
1000 11.719
1/4 13.985
MPH 98.83

Temp: was about 65 F and car temp at launch was about 206

I pulled air out of the rears to about 22 PSI and pumped to front to 40, Removed spare, Jack ect...

One thing I noticed and bugged me all night was in third gear it seemed to shift hard or hesitate. Not sure what that is but certainly hurting I believe.

Thanks again

Guys just installed Nitrous and headed to track last night, we had some storm cells come through and the last half of the track was wet so they only ran 1/8 mile. I post my best run below, what do you think it would translate to a 1/4 mile run? Running 75 shot.

R/T .923 (I know gotta work on this)
60' 1.905
330 5.488
1/8 8.473
MPH 81.82
