As you can see, I'm a rookie to the charger forums and have been reading a lot before opening my mouth to get flammed at :D . Kinda curious as the track times on modded/stock r/ts and srt 8's. Seems that to get into the 12's ( on the 5.7) that you need to drop a pretty coin. Im not TOO concerned about track times when it comes to buying a car out of the box, but these gains from the mods just seem very minimal. Is it that people are just not posting times on here form mods, or is it just that hopeless? I am a huge mopar fan *only being 21* and would love to stick in the Mopar family, but I'd like to have a pretty beastly street car * in the 12's or faster*.I understand the charger is not the lightest of cars either . Is it that the aftermarket for chargers is not that big yet? These are the questions I have that I'd like to get straight from owners rather than performance sites. The rarity of chargers up here in NW Ohio are pretty slim, even worse to any being modded. Thanks for all the info guys, appreciate it greatly :D

There are several 5.7's in the 12's. Besides the standard CAI, headers and exhaust, most that are that quick have after market heads and a cam. Look into the Sidewinder cam from Frank Racing, it seems to be the best mod for speed on the 5.7

Of course you can always use nitrous to get your 12's :)

Here is a link for timeslips. Look in the high 12 area, lots of 5.7's in there.

And here is a great thread showing people posting when they got in the 12's N/A.

Does a 21 yr-old really need a 4000-lb 12 second street car? You must have a lot more money than I did at 21.

Does a CAI even work on an car with MDS? To my understanding it would not? I could be wrong :)

a CAI will work on any vehicle

what will not work with MDS, is most Cam Shaft upgrades

The Sidewinder from Frank Racing Inc retains MDS and has shown some pretty impressive gains. Paired with heads, it brings the 5.7 in line with the SRT. I didnt believe it at first either, but its true.
