Hello,

Hoping the folks here can help me out. I'm trying to wire a LED Scanner i purchased for the inside of my r/t. I'd like to have it turn on when I turn the engine off but I need to find the easiest way to hook up the (red) positive
12v source (receives power all the time) and a 12v ground that is activated when the engine is off. The location isn't a big thing but I'm just trying to find the proper wiring in the car to make this happen. Any suggestions would be appreciated. BTW the scanner has 8 settings and can be purchased from Pilot Automotive (www.pilotautomotive.com). thanks.

Tap a fuse that's always hot or directly from the battery and ground the light to the ignition. When the car is started, the ground breaks so the light stops. Then, when you turn the car off again, the ground is reestablished and the LEDs will become active.

elcobra44, thanks for the feedback. I can work with that. Do you know if any of the wiring behind the front console can be used ?? I've already had it out while installing the NOESP mod, I was wondering if I could tap into the wiring here. I must admit i'm not the best at this but I'll never learn unless I do it myself, but I don't want fry any electronics in the process. thanks for your help.

You've got the cigarette lighter in there.. That becomes hot only when the car is on, but I'm not sure about any of those that are juiced all the time.

Can't you make a small "adjustment" to the fuse in teh rear of the car to make the cig lighter so that it has power all the time? Thought I had read that somewhere.

I'm not too sure.

Sound@Security, Steve, gave me most of my knowledge about the car's wiring. It might be worth shooting him a PM. He's the man.
