Question for you guys who have the Mopar Dual Cat Back exhaust systems installed?

What do you think of them?

And do you regret not getting something else?

Thanks

Milt

Ok, After searching the rest of the forums I found what Brian and Charger SXT had to say. I think I am going to have to go with the Mopar Cat Backs. The price is right and the void will be filled. Now I have to convience the MRS....

Glad we could help with your decision.

As far as convincing the Mrs....sorry, man, you're on your own....

I have had the Mopar cat-back system on for 10 days now. The sound is more of a deep tone when on the throttle but no drone when at cruise either in city driving or on the freeway. The noise level inside was something my wife was concerned with but she really likes the sound of the Mopar system.
As the muffler breaks in it is getting a better tone to it. Hope this helps.

Just had my Mopar cat back system put on yester-day, and I must say so far I am very happy with it.

I was told by one of the teck's at the dealership that the sound will get a little more bite to it as I put on the miles. He also has a Charger with the 3.5 and Mopar exhaust. Said, it seems to top off at about 500 to 600 miles.

I belive for the price of the exhaust you can't go wrong. If I was worried about a TRUE dual exhaust, because of gaining extra power. I would have bought the Hemi and not a 3.5.

Just my thoughts...................... :) :) :)

Damn, I was hoping ou could talk to the wife for me! lol I'm going to the dealer on Friday to discuss why he did not discount me the $800.00 off the car as promised and rolled it into hidden fees... So I may have some leverage.

Thanks

Milt

I have to thank everyone for all of their honest opinions. It really helped me make my decision in getting a SXT and to put in MOPAR's dual exhaust.

As far as the exhaust go, I did not want to spend the big bucks for the Zoomers, thought I think that they do sound the best. I think that even the single exhaust sound better than MOPAR's duals. My choice was decided in the following order: cost, looks, performance/mpg, sound. Sound was last since I knew there was no way it would sound like a V8.

I had it installed at the dealership while it was in the shop for the 5000k service. Cost me C$650 installed. Not too bad to fill up that bumper cut out and to get a baby V8 sound.

I think that if I really wanted that V8 sound, I would have bought a V8. For what I've paid so far, both for the car and the upgrades, I think that I've gotten really good bang for the buck.

It seems everyone who has purchased the Mopar Duals has been satisfied with the system sounds and definetely the lower price. My question is did anyone feel like the car gained any performance with the upgraded exhaust?
I seem to remember Spoon saying his was more responsive after getting his zoomer installed. I definetely like the lower price of the Mopar but if its just for looks and not performance I might have to be patient and wait till I can afford Zoomer's dual setup.

I just had the Mopar exhaust put on this past weekend...... Not too sure if I like the sound, yet. I do feel SOTP a little bit of an increase. Nothing proven by the dyno though. I will say that the exhaust is manufactured by BORLA though. At least the one I ordered was. That was a plus.

I can't say that I have experienced a noticable increase in performance...but there is a bit of a SOTP difference. What really helped performance was having the computer flashed for the engine/tranny.

What don't you like about the sound?
Have you gone to Zoomers website and listened to the soundclips for the 3.5? How does it compare?
Are you able to post a sound clip?

I used my digital camera to record a clip of the MOPAR dual exhaust. The file is mpg, how do I post it?

Hi Guys, I put the Mopar Cat Back with Mopar CAI on my 3.5 SE by the dealer, I love the sound and I definately found an increase mid range accelerating (3k-6.6k RPM) but not noticeable at the low end.

I do have a concern and I am not sure does anyone else have the same problem.

Between 500 - 2,000 RPM there is a bit of drone but it is easily liveable with, however when I hit 2,000-3,000RPM there is an immese booming sound that fills the cabin and you can feel vibration through the accelerator pedal and front of the car.

Once past 3k the booming goes away completely and it's back to the great growl, this only happens when the car is moving, if I bring the revs up through this band when parked there is no booming sound?????

I have had this back to the dealer 3 times now, they reinstall the exhausts and for a day its good, but when I boot it soon comes back with a vengence.

- Is this an exhaust problem (installation or fault with the exhausts)?
- Is it a CAI problem?

I am taking it back to the dealer again tomorrow for them to have another go at sorting it out.

I have done 3,000 km's on the exhausts so I think they are well settled in, I can't believe MOPAR would design the exhaust to be like this.

Any comments thoughts would be greatly appriciated guys.

Cheers

Mark

Yes,I had my Mopar/Borla exhaust for about 3 yrs,and happy with the sound and performance. The exhaust tips does say Borla. They been making exhaust for Chrysler for over 20 years, and as close as you can get to factory equipment.

Wow from what I've seen online is that the are not cheap. Around $100o plus. Where have you found them cheap at?

Yes as richd says they do say Borla on the exhaust tips.

They look and sound great except for this issue at 2-3,000 RPM.

Hi richd, do you experience this same problem at this rev range with your exhausts or does it look like mine are faulty?

Do you also have the MOPAR CAI on your car?

Cheers

No I dont have your problem, and dont have CAI.I did have at one time a K&N drop in,but lost power and MPG,and put back stock filter.

Hi richd,

Thanks mate, I was wondering if it could be the CAI, I will try putting the stock filter back and see if it clears the problem, as it seems the vibration is coming through the front firewall when the engine is underload.

As they have re installed the exhausts 3 times, it has to be either faulty resonators or the CAI (which is the only thing not touched at the moment).

Will keep you posted.... if anyone else has any comments would appriciate your thoughts and wisdom.

Cheers

Mark

Wasn't the CAI, looks like it's a fault with the exhausts... put the stock exhaust back on and the problem disapears... now just working out what the next steps are with the dealer.
