This may be the dumbest question ever, but since I can't figure it out.....here goes.

I have a '06 Charger R/T with the stock radio (SIRIUS). The only (and I mean only) thing I don't like about this car is that the SIRIUS channels only go by their numbers (ex. Ch. 1, 2, 3, etc.). For example, when my radio is in "Satellite" mode, it only shows P1 (Preset #1, or whatever preset I'm on) and then CH. 1 (or whatever channel I'm on). I just have the regular rectangular radio screen, not the big navigation display.

The only thing I want.....is to be able to see what station and song is playing on my screen when I am in "Satellite" mode. The only way I thought about doing this was to buy a new head unit, which, in turn forces me to buy a SIRIUS tuner (Pioneer), Wire kit, harness, etc. etc. After installation, this bad boy is going to cost around $700 (Yikes!). The head unit is $380.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is any alternatives that I just don't know about. Can you get a SIRIUS tuner (one for my factory radio) which will allow the station/song to show on my factory radio screen? The only thing I can think of is to buy one of those SIRIUS sportsters (or whatever they're called) and have it mounted on the dash, etc. Though, I HATE to do that, as I don't want anything extra on the interior of my beautiful Charger:)

Anyway, any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks is advance for your responses.

Well if you don't want to spend a ton of money, one option is upgrading to the factory 6 disc changer. It can show you the channel name, song title, etc for Sirius. It also has a few other goodies, like CD-Text and MP3 CDs, but the song/channel information was the big one for me, too.

I just did that this week - cost me $225. Installation is super-easy. Just yank the center console bezel off, unscrew the old radio, put the new one in, and you're done. 10 minute job. You don't need to worry about Sirius subscriptions or anything, it's all plug and play.

Search on eBay for "dodge 6-disc" and you'll find it. Face code is RAQ (RAK for the version with casette). You could probably get it for under $200 if you're patient (I wasn't).

I was wondering the cost of the 6-disc, as I am still working with the single disc in my ride. Thanks for the suggestion!

Also, do you know if I would need any extra equipment other than the radio, extra wires, etc.? Thanks.

All you need is a Phillips, and a wrench to take the negative battery cable off.

Nope totally plug and play.
I changed mine over. It was a simple mod. took about 10 mins.
I got lucky. I got mine for 75 bucks. without the knobs.

nice article finding about the radio. What will it take to install the navigation radio? Is it easy too?

so there is one screw at the bottom corner on each side of the bezel and the whole thing pops off just like Durangos??? Thats what I needed to know. Car is being delivered in an hour and need to swap the radios before he takes off...

I was wondering if I replace the factory single cd with a (factory)six cd changer, will that kill my subscription to Sirius? I have a year free and don't want to pay for the subscription if I don't have to.
