Is it a new version of the unit? Most newer units have new technology that prevents one from having movies on while driving, even if you ground that wire.
Mine is a JVC an I did the same thing you did, but mine works fine.
Did you hook everything right? make sure it is "realy" grounded. Do a test on that ground.

depends on the make/model- you should be able to find a hack online.
I think the guys over at LX forums had a thread about this recently.

A little more info would be nice. Who makes the unit, what model is it. If you want help, try and be a little more specific in your question. There are plenty of here to help.

Pioneer units and Sony units have "gyros" in them to detect movement. The only way that I can think of to HACK it is to disassemble the unit. - Good Luck

Sometimes the remote turn on lines from the monitor say to put them to the remote turn on wire of the receiver. However this line doesnt carry enough amperage to turn on the monitor. Make sure you have it connected to battery (12v accesory)not remote turn on lead. Then bypass the parking brake by going to a constant ground.

Arent there enough distractions?? I have seen shaving, makeup application, reading, text messaging, clothes changing just to name a few. The idea of a movie is to be able to sit and watch it, enjoy it. Why would you risk your ride or the lives of you, your passengers or other drivers on the same road as you, by adding the ability to watch something that by design will take your eyes off the road for long lengths of time?? "I will only be listening to it"...umm, maybe Im wrong but isnt that what radio does already?? No hack or mod needed for that.

Thats just my 2 cents, by all means your ride, I just hope we dont travel the same roads, ever.

I have the pionneer Avic-z1 and I got the bypass done it just to have it. I don't really ever use it unless I'm showing it off. Also the bypass allows me to access some of the POI and Vicinity searches. Otherwise I'd have to pull over and park and then search. I rather stay on the road and have my gf pull it up and go from there.

Besides it's kind of nice putting music videos on a DVD and having the video play while listening to the music in your car.

I hate it when I am driving and I take a drink of my 1.75 of Captain Morgan and the fat end of the bottle gets in the way of whatever DVD I am watching...especially when I am on the phone.
